POSITION SUMMARY:

The Employer Relations & Community Outreach Manager will assist the Office of Career Planning and Development and will report to the Assistant Vice President of Career Planning and Development. This position communicates the services and resources offered by the department and provides guidance for students preparing for internships and the transition to life after college.

The Employer Relations & Community Outreach Manager is responsible for Industry Fairs Career Weeks Recruitment Events and Requisition Assistance. Additionally this position will be responsible for managing the Ambassador Program community service database maintaining the community service calendar and assisting students staff and faculty with tracking hours and hosting servicelearning events and training sessions for Fisk scholars.

This position requires partnerships with internal partners members of the Nashville community and partnering agencies whose service mission is aligned to the mission of Fisk University. This position will require collaboration with the campus community to initiate and sustain volunteer and serviceoriented programming maintaining records of individual or organizational participants analysis of trends in demographic participation and managing assessment of all projects activities and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Employer Recruitment

  • Manages employer recruitment visits to campus and partners with faculty in specific majors/disciplines
  • Coordinates Career Fairs Employer Recruitment Sessions Industry Expos and partners with Academic Affairs and faculty to schedule classroom visits and industryfocused events
  • Assists with the facilitation of evening professional development workshops offered through the Office of career Planning and Development
  • Comanages the Career Planning email and the OCPD Programming/Planning Calendar throughout the academic year
  • Collaborates on more than one programmatic area (mentoring alumni and corporate programming)
  • Serves as a facilitator for career and professional development workshops offered through the OCPD
  • Works directly with students participating in general recruitment events and interview processes
  • Tracks attendance for program events and sessions and provides a participation/engagement report at the end of each semester
  • Utilizes the Handshake platform to schedule coaching meetings input meeting notes and track program participants from designated majors and industry areas
  • Conducts coaching meetings with students each semester; administers office/event surveys and collects information for placement data/outcomes
  • Assists the Assistant Vice President with managing the OCPD departmental budgets and Title III budgets and reports
  • Assists with the collection of data around internships and first destinations of graduating

  • Manages the Ambassador Program

ServiceLearning/Community Outreach

  • Maintains the oncampus community service calendar and coordinates communitybased partnerships that create service and volunteering opportunities for the Fisk community
  • Develops and maintains the FiskServe to track document and assess participation outcomes and benchmarks of community service and volunteer activities
  • Collects and reports data about student service hours and student community service partnerships
  • Collaborates with other campus offices and faculty to track student service hours
  • Partners with more than seven universities/colleges to help plan the annual MLK Joint Day of Service
  • Coordinates the New Student Day of Service project for all incoming students
  • Manages the servicelearning email box and responds to inquiries
  • Partners with the external vendor regarding the volunteer tracking system and the ITS Department/Technical interns regarding the administrative and technical issues
  • Works with Career Peer Mentors (CPMS) on updates and partners with technical interns for survey creation and data tracking and reporting
  • Facilitates servicelearning training and hosts training sessions for student organization/leaders advisors and campus departments
  • Coplans for departmental recognition events
  • Serves on university internal and external committees as assigned
  • Performs additional administrative duties for the Office of Career Planning & Development and participates in departmental and campusrelated meetings
  • Manages the ServiceLearning Interns

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in the use of computer software and applications (including Word Power Point Publisher Excel)
  • Ability to prepare for meetings events and presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to manage organizational workflow and its impact on work quality
  • Professional enthusiastic works well independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to prepare materials for meetings presentations dissemination and distribution (including spreadsheets brochures department policies and seminar information)
  • Ability to utilize informational database for inquiry and maintaining records
  • Exhibits creativity and handles multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of students faculty/staff corporate and community partners

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Reports to the AVP of Career Planning and Development and interfaces with Faculty and other members of the University community.
  • Manages OCPD Ambassador Program and ServiceLearning Interns

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors Degree preferred.

*23 years of experience in an administrative office reception or customer service role.

*Minimum of 35 years experience coordinating events/meetings.

Experience: Candidate must project a positive professional image. Candidate should be able to work in a diverse setting and be flexible and adaptable. Candidates should also show initiative and have a willingness to learn new things.

Licenses or Certificates: None required but training/teaching certificates project management are a plus.

Additional Requirements: A background and/or credit check will be required of the successful applicant. An official transcript (if applicable) and names addresses and phone numbers and three 3 references will be required for the successful applicant
