TheDepartment of Environmental ServicesRefuse Collection and Disposal Divisionis hiring an Energy Recovery Engineer. The position assists the Energy Recovery Administrator with monitoring the operating contractors performance at the HPOWER (Honolulu Program of Waste Energy Recovery) wastetoenergy plant.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:- Developing and maintaining the necessary engineering records required to verify quality and quantity of waste processed.
- Verifying by engineering analysis that performance guarantees regarding capacity energy and materials recovery environmental regulations residue quality and weight reduction are met.
- Verifying that technical contractual responsibilities are met and takes necessary corrective action with other division sections and private haulers as required.
- Performing engineering liaison with other divisional and governmental personnel private interest groups and the general public in coordinating projects.
- Providing engineering input and participation in the planning of other wastetoenergy projects such as landfill gas recovery.

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a noncitizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionallyaccredited four year college or university with a bachelors degree in an engineering specialty.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionallyaccredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.Verification Requirement: Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma and/or official transcript which shows the embossed sealor applicable FCEto your application. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One 1 year of registered professional engineering experience in the planning design and/or operation of a large oil coal waste or nuclear fueled power plant.
Applicable Skills:- Knowledge of design requirements of a large oil coal wastetoenergy nuclear power plants and other energy recovery facilities.
- Knowledge of construction standards requirements and problems.
- Knowledge of plans and specifications regarding power plants.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering regarding the design construction maintenance and operation of wastetoenergy plants and other energy recovery facilities.
- Ability to coordinate review and monitor highly complex plant design and operating and power contracts relating to the construction maintenance and operation of power plants.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Civil Mechanical Electrical or Structural Engineering.
