Who are we looking for
Reporting to the Tax Leader we seek an Indirect Tax Advisor to work with the business to meet the GHD Groups indirect tax obligations and provide commercial tax advice.

As a strong collaborator you will work closely with Finance teams including APAC controllership Treasury and other Tax members on indirect tax compliance. You will also contribute to projects working with finance partners and project teams to assess tax risks and communicate tax outcomes.

This role oversees business activity statement and fringe benefit tax processes ensuring timely lodgment and identifying improvement opportunities.

This position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Preparation and lodgment of Australian business activity statements
Preparation of the annual GAT reconciliation for the GHD Groups business activity statements
Preparation and lodgment of the monthly PNG GST return
Management of tax controversies taxrelated audits and reviews while coordinating with external advisors.
Preparation of monthly FBT reconciliations for input into the annual FBT return
Preparation and posting of accounting journals required relating to GST and FBT
Identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement and working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to implement changes and streamline processes.
Assisting with providing tax advice on international projects including interpretation of tax treaties assessing GST/VAT WHT PE risk and individual tax as required

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

CA/CPA equivalent professional tax qualifications
Minimum 7 years relevant experience gained in either Big 4 midtier firms and/or large multinational corporate tax environment
Strong tax technical skills and understanding of tax effect accounting.
Ability to provide specialist tax consulting and advisory services to various stakeholder groups while anticipating and supporting business needs.
The ability to communicate complex tax concepts in clear and commercially relevant terms.
Experience with an accounting ERP system (e.g. BST10 SAP Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
