Job Overview:
We are seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Elgin IL. In this role you will play a key role in designing specifying and testing automated modified atmosphere packaging machines and systems. This position involves working with flexible film tracking heat sealing technologies conveying systems product handling and scale systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical design and engineering tasks for new products special products proposals and customer orders.
- Oversee projects from initial concept to prototype and production.
- Utilize SolidWorks for design documentation and data management.
- Develop and manage BOMs using MRP systems.
- Conduct engineering calculations such as mass and energy balance load and strength.
- Specify mechanical components materials and instruments required for new product designs.
- Perform regular quality and design inspections on the manufacturing floor to ensure conformance with engineering standards.
- Provide technical direction to resolve product configuration and performance issues.
- Research innovative technologies to enhance product quality and performance.
- Utilize Excel to manage projects including creating macros and advanced formulas to streamline processes.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment while working independently as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 710 years of mechanical design experience in highspeed automation and packaging systems preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks Inventor or AutoCAD.
- Strong project leadership skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes for fabricating parts and selecting components for the food products industry.
- Experience with food packaging washdown requirements line integration and scaling systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication analytical and organizational skills.
- Advanced Excel skills including creating macros and complex formulas.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel up to 10 (including internationally).
