We are looking for a brilliant PostDoctoral Research fellow for the Digital One Health laboratory (DOHL)at The Roslin Institute University of Edinburgh with Dr Adrian Muwonge.
The Opportunity:
The position offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious project reimagining the future of traceability in food systems. They will lead the mapping of the Scottish salmon value chain structure stakeholders and dynamics through stakeholder engagement activities including meetings workshops and conferences. Additionally they will develop innovative value chain incentivization models to promote product quality and sustainable production practices and contribute to creating a blueprint for developing a Cardano blockchainbased traceability system.
The team currently comprises up to five PhD students at various stages of their programs focusing on different aspects of AMR transmission. Additionally we are establishing a Cardano blockchainbased traceability portfolio through this position and another PhD studentship. Collaboration is central to the role and involves working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists including software engineers and material scientists from the Universities of Edinburgh Stirling and Arizona State University in the USA

Your skills and attributes for success:
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in aquaculture with experience in monitoring and managing the health and welfare of salmon production. They should have the ability to engage effectively with sector players and demonstrate proven expertise in managing curating and mapping value chain dynamics qualitycritical control points and incentivization models. A good understanding of blockchain technology applied to traceability is advantageous. The Roslin Institute is a worldclass center for biomedical research focusing on infectious diseases relevant to both animal and human health. It offers access to stateoftheart research facilities including advanced imaging proteomics and highthroughput sequencing platforms. Within the Roslin Institute the Digital One Health Laboratory fosters international collaborations including: a) AMR initiatives such as the Fleming Fund Fellowship in Africab) Food sector traceability projects using blockchain technology in partnership with the Blockchain Technology Laboratory and c) Development of One Health living laboratory models in collaboration with Makerere University.
