As such many of our staff are vegan by personal choice and all of our THLhosted events offer fully vegan menus. The Open Wing Alliance (OWA) a program of The Humane League is a global coalition of approximately 90 animal protection organizations across 70 countries united in a common goal: to end the abuse of chickens worldwide. For the past several years we have focused our efforts in Europe on eliminating battery cages and increasing uptake of the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) by securing corporate commitments from major retailers restaurants and manufacturers. OWA groups share tactics and resources to secure as many wins for animals as possible specializing in institutional campaigning that can be tailored to our members unique circumstances and challenges.
As the OWA Europe Corporate Strategy Lead you will serve as a key subject matter expert on corporate campaigning and corporate outreach for the OWA in Europe. Youll be responsible for building relationships with OWA member groups and providing advice coaching and training in order to build campaign knowledge and skills across the animal protection movement in Europe. We want you because you are an experienced campaigner and strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills. You are excited about collaborating with organizations across Europe to maximize impact for animals and you have a deep determination to remove the worst forms of animal suffering from companies supply chains. This position reports directly to the Director of the Open Wing Alliance.
This is a fulltime remote position. This position requires domestic and international travel equivalent to 610 trips per year and requires a valid uptodate passport. This position can be based in the United Kingdom Czechia Denmark Estonia Finland Ireland Italy Norway Sweden Switzerland or Spain.The successful candidate must be authorized to work in one of these countries. To enable collaboration with other global team members this role requires hours outside of 9am5pm at least two working days per week. More details can be provided at the interview stage.

Provide OWA member groups in Europe with strategic guidance and direction for regional corporate campaign strategies and collaborate with groups to troubleshoot issues.
Cocreate strategies with OWA groups and serve as a coach building their independence over time. Support groups in adapting campaign tactics to different local and regional contexts.
Lead inperson and virtual trainings for OWA groups on corporate campaigning and corporate outreach.
Build strong relationships and trust with OWA groups alongside a reputation as a sharp strategic thinker and strategist.
Develop resources and training materials in order to build resilience empowerment and autonomy in the OWA.
In addition to the above essential job duties other duties may be assigned as business needs arise. These may include nonessential marginal job duties.
Experience: Previous experience with corporate pressure campaigns and/or corporate negotiations. Experience developing campaign strategy as well as carrying out specific functions related to a campaigns success.
Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving: Leads problemsolving efforts and the development of campaign strategies demonstrating an understanding of broader organizational strategy. Ability to identify opportunities innovate new tactics evaluate options and potential outcomes and anticipate obstacles. Escalates issues to senior leaders when necessary seeking additional perspectives and expertise to guide complex often highstakes decisions.
Initiative Proactivity and Adaptability: Actively seeks creative solutions to address challenges. Adapts readily when faced with setbacks viewing obstacles as opportunities for innovation. Ability to work with a great deal of independence and a strong sense of ownership over goals.
Verbal and Written Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats with stakeholders across a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Adapts communication style to suit different audiences needs. Ability to lead successful training sessions acting as a subject matter expert and explaining ideas clearly and concisely.
Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent relationshipbuilding skills with the ability and desire to collaborate with audiences with a variety of different levels of knowledge and experience. Actively contributes to the achievement of team goals coordinating collaborative efforts and working with colleagues to collectively overcome challenges. Ability to build positive relationships and resolve conflicts.
Time Management and Prioritization: Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Ability to handle competing demands and prioritize effectively.
Global Perspective: Approaches work with a global perspective taking into consideration the diverse experiences of stakeholders across many different cultures languages and political systems. Embraces differences and collaborates with OWA groups to adapt strategies to regional and local contexts prioritizing global impact.
Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to THLs mission to end the abuse of animals raised for food. Familiarity with the animal protection movement or other advocacy movements in Europe.

The annual compensation range for this role is:
Compensation ranges for candidates based in Denmark Estonia Finland Ireland Italy Norway Sweden or Spain will be determined prior to extending an offer.
At The Humane League we believe in maintaining a fair and nondiscriminatory work environment for all employees. As part of our commitment to transparency we have implemented a job architecture framework which levels all of our roles according to size and complexity as well as a compensation step system which allows us to determine fair salaries for all staff. We also look at market data for each country that we operate in to allow us to create specific salary bands per country. This work is time consuming and involves a cost to THL. Therefore when expanding into a country for the first time we only undertake this work towards the end of the recruitment process when we know where our ideal candidate is based. In addition we have adopted a no negotiation policy for salaries. To determine a jobs level we carefully consider a variety of factors including a jobs size and complexity required experience knowledge and/or skills internal comparability and market data. Candidates whose experience places them at step 5 or above of their job level within our compensation structure will be awarded a senior title designation. These practices are aligned with our organizational values and will help us ensure we maintain clear consistent and transparent HR processes.
