Boatswains Locker is a familyowned and industryleading marine engine sales and service company. Since 1939 we have supplied and supported premier marine products to boat builders dealers and endusers of recreational commercial and government boats throughout Western North America Hawaii and Mexico. Our primary products include Yanmar Engines Kohler Marine Generators Hamilton Waterjets COX Diesel Outboards MerCruiser Engines Mercury Outboards and Steyr Motors. Our Service Department needs to expand its team with the addition of experienced technicians.
CAREER DESCRIPTION
Title: Marine Gasoline and/or Diesel Inboard/Outboard Engine and
Generator Mechanic
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Orange County California (Costa Mesa)
Preferred Experience: 3 years of experience in a marine mechanic role
Compensation: Ranges from $20 to $50 per hour commensurate with experience
Purpose and Scope
A Marine Engine and Generator Mechanic services repairs and installs marine engines generators transmissions sterndrives waterjets and related equipment in vessels. Work is performed in our shop and in the field. Extensive productspecific training is provided with exposure to many interesting andsometimes complex applications. Experience is required and you musthaveyour own tools. A service vehicle is provided and businessrelated expensesarereimbursed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of experienced and highly qualified team membersyou will:
Independently repair and service the products Boatswains Locker represents
Diagnose and repair sometimes complex problems
Properly utilize technical information as well as installation and application guidelines
Independently install and test equipment on vessels in compliance with factory specifications
Provide technicalsupport in a professional and timely manner
Workin a team environment
Travelas needed both domestically and internationally
Attend service and product training as required (paid for by the Company)
Configure and recommend equipment as per customer requests
Maintainhigh standards of cleanliness and organization

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Min. three 3 years of experience servicing and repairing gasoline and/or diesel inboard marine engines generators outboards sterndrives waterjets transmissions and related systems
Computer knowledge and experience with engine diagnostic software
Current professional technical factory certifications with namebrand marine engine products
Strong customer service skills
Must have a valid California drivers license (avalid US Passport is optional but recommended)
