The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. We are one of the largest departments in Maryland with nearly 12000 employees and a budget of more than $1 billion. The incumbent in thisposition functions as a reasonable accommodations coordinator employee relations investigator within the Officeof Fair Practices and Inclusion. With nearly 9000 employees and abudget of close to $1.2 billion the Department of Public Safety and CorrectionalServices is one of the largest state agencies in Maryland. The Departmentsfunctions include the operation of three correctional divisions that total 27facilities and 45 parole and probation supervision offices.
This positions primary duty will be partner with the Agency ADA Coordinator to process ADA requests for accommodations for DPSCS employees consistent with the ADA handle the ADA process in coordination with DPSCSHR and investigate complaints of discrimination equal employment opportunity.
The incumbent will review requests for reasonable accommodations in accordance with the ADA develop and provide training to staff and management investigate employee complaints and make recommendationsrelating to disciplinary measures based on investigation findings. The incumbent will also represent the Department at OAH EEOC MCCR and other courtproceedings.
Receive and process ADA reasonable accommodation requests in aninteractive process with the employee medical provider HR the appointingauthority and any other relevant parties. Maintain confidential ADA filesreport out routine ADA data to the Executive Director make recommendationsregarding ADA training operational issues training and programming.
Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:Five years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules regulations policy procedures and processes or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a yearfor year basis for the required experience.
