Job Summary
The ESG Climate & Reporting Analyst manages and supports enterprise sustainability/ESG (environmental social governance) reporting. As a member of the ESG team this role is critical to effective communication of Avnets ESG strategy through its annual sustainability report and disclosures.
Additionally the individual will be responsible for calculating several Scope 3 GHG emissions categories as well as support the development and reporting of climate transition plans.
This position reports directly to Avnets Director of ESG and works collaboratively across the organization domestically and internationally. The role is responsible for contributing to the development and of a cohesive enterprise sustainability/ESG reporting recognition and communications strategy by engaging crossfunctional teams and leveraging external vendors. The strategy must effectively communicate Avnets ESG position and strategies to internal and external audiences and earn the companys place on targeted thirdparty rating entities and reporting frameworks.
This position requires an experienced and detailoriented sustainability professional who can function independently with diverse stakeholders and manage through influence across levels and functions. This position also requires an individual who operates with a sense of urgency and a consistent awareness of deadlines and results.
Primary Responsibilities
- Project manage the development of annual sustainability report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Accounting and Standards Board (SASB) and Task Force on ClimateRelated Financial Disclosures (TCFD) etc. Maintain timeline and improve process for developing the report in timely fashion and enhancing the report each year.
- Manage track and update key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to internal targets and public goals and ensure timely and accurate data capture. Collaborate with functions and subject matter experts (SMEs) including communications investor relations diversity environmental community relations supply chain and others.
- Coordinate with SMEs responsible for providing data from existing software systems and ensure continuous improvement of enhanced streamlined tools for data collection.
- Build and maintain a repository of stories proofpoints and other information throughout the year ensure accuracy and verification of content for inclusion in internal and external channels such as annual sustainability report.
- Work with internal company auditors to audit the accuracy of information and develop the processes documentation and controls by which information is collected maintained and verified to prepare for third party assurance.
- Engage inhouse and thirdparty contractors to drive effective of sustainability report including reporting writing editing and design.
- Engage and lead management of inhouse and thirdparty contractors to develop repeatable methodology for calculating several Scope 3 categories
- Supports development and subsequent tracking of climate transition plan
- Coordinate with SMEs and complete submission of responses to other reporting frameworks/disclosures as needed
- Identify prioritize and manage additional questionnaires and surveys requested by NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) current and prospective clients suppliers investors and other key stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain industry benchmarking and trends. Identify innovative approaches to sustainability/ESG reporting including collection and publication of metrics proofpoints narrative content and integrated reporting and approaches to enhance authenticity and creativity.
Job Level Specifications and qualifications
- Candidates must have at least 5 yrs. of experience
- Flexibility to accommodate working hours outside of local standard business hours to accommodate global time zones
- Relevant Bachelors degree in sustainability or related degree with relevant previous experience would be a plus.
- Track record of developing and delivering qualitative and quantitative sustainability and ESG (environmental social governance) reporting.
- Experience building processes ready for third party assurance preferred.
- Technical knowledge and experience in sustainability reporting and with relevant ESG standards; familiarity with GRI SASB/ISSB ESRS TCFD is preferred.
- Experience with the application of GHG Protocol to Scope 1 2 and 3 emissions reporting
- Experience managing consistent and accurate data collection leveraging SaaS solutions as applicable.
- Proven ability to read analyze interpret and translate large sets of data into simple insights or reports.
- Excellent project management and strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to balance multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Analytic thinker and ability to problemsolve including evaluation and identification of solutions.
- Proven ability to inspire collaborate and manage internal relationships and cultivate partnerships.
