Plant Engineer (Power Plant)
Location: Bridgeport CT
Salary: Up to $150000 (range) benefits below
Position Summary:
The Plant Engineer implements coordinates and performs the engineering support functions for plant operations and maintenance. This role provides engineering support for safety and environmental compliance as well as contract adherence for generation steam wheeling and raw materials. Responsibilities include technical support for daily operations plant and process improvements breakdown analysis and corrective action recommendations. The Plant Engineer oversees project planning and for capital and major maintenance projects vendor and contractor management and predictive and preventive maintenance programs. Additionally this position acts as the technical contact for insurance issues related to fire/boiler property and machinery and is responsible for overall plant engineering and IT support.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish goals and objectives for the engineering group defining responsibilities and performance standards. Primary departmental functions include:

Develop implement and evaluate plant performance monitoring related to availability improvements and thermal efficiency.
Manage plant improvements and capital projects by compiling data investigating alternatives and making economic evaluations for equipment and procedural modifications. Assist in investigating plant problems incidents accidents and unusual events providing analysis and recommendations.
Lead the plants configuration and management of change process.
Implement and maintain a tracking system for plant issues affecting safety environmental compliance equipment condition budget or generation.
Utilize predictive maintenance tools and analysis techniques to identify potential equipment failures and risks. Assist in the development of preventative and scheduled maintenance activities.
Evaluate equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Provide reports recommendations and followup plans.
Maintain and update plant drawing files equipment records test results unit availability data generation statistics thermal performance DCS configurations and water chemistry data.
Monitor and control engineering expenditures to remain within budget guidelines and contribute to budget planning.
Provide technical support in bid specification preparation vendor and contractor bid evaluation and contractor performance monitoring to ensure contract compliance.
Oversee IT administration including DCS ensuring that repairs modifications and software changes are executed safely without operational disruptions.
Collaborate with administration operations maintenance and environmental health and safety teams to support their objectives.
Coordinate with corporate engineering and external maintenance and engineering firms to discuss field changes equipment modifications and problem resolution. Work with manufacturers vendors and plant personnel including shift supervisors technicians and maintenance staff to exchange information and provide technical support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Follow all safety and environmental policies procedures and training requirements. Promote compliance with EH&S and NERC standards and contribute positively to workplace morale.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent with a minimum of ten years of relevant power plant experience.
Thorough understanding of power plant operations including operations and maintenance functions. Proficiency in computer and control systems as well as chemistry related to power plant operations and water treatment.
Knowledge of budgets bid proposals contract evaluation and basic accounting principles. Understanding of chemistry physics engineering and plant operations.
Ability to plan coordinate and direct engineering functions while influencing overall plant operations. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to make professional judgments and recommendations.
Minimum of five years of supervisory experience overseeing technical supervisory and administrative personnel. Strong leadership and motivational skills.
Professional Engineering (PE) license in Connecticut is strongly encouraged but not required.
Must be able to read write speak and understand English.
