We are currently ONLY seeking candidates who can teach 1 1/2 days (daytime hours) per week. (e.g. Tuesday 12:30 3 PMandWednesday 8AM 3PM. Or Monday 8AM 3PMandTuesday 8AM 10AM. We are NOT currently hiring parttime faculty in this area for evening shifts. Only apply if you have this daytime availability.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


Develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses business community other sites and online during the day evening and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings department and college functions course and curriculum development in both traditional and nontraditional formats online courses staff development conduct open labs (if/when necessary) student advising student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation student organization involvement recruitment and retention of students and other duties as assigned. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teachingrelated activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program participate in efforts to recruit and retain students and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and followup.
  • Maintain certification continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Educational requirements:

  • Must have an Associate degree in Automotive Servicing from an accredited college or a closely related degree or an associate degree plan (a plan to obtain an associate degree in a related field within 5 years of hire date. 50 of the degree should be completed within the first three years and the remaining 50 completed by the end of the fifth year).
    • Related field include but are not limited to Diesel.

Occupational experience:
  • Must have a minimum of seven 7 years of fulltime or equivalent 14000 hours) experience in a related field.
  • In addition oneof the following must be met:
    • At least one 1 year of work experience must have occurred within the last five 5 years
    • OR
    • Two 2 years of teaching Diesel/Automotive Servicing course work at the postsecondary level within the last five years
One 1 year of teaching experience equivalent two 2 semesters fulltime of four 4 semesters parttime

Industry or vendor certification:
  • Must hold current ASE Master Technician Certification in areas A1A8 & G1 along with federal section 609 MVAC certification or master tech certification from a manufacturer dealership with plans to complete ASE certification in A1A8 & G1 and 609 MVAC certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record sufficient to be insured by MATC.
  • Must successfully complete online defensive driving course within first year of hire.

Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:
  • Online Information Management Systems Experience with SelfService or other online information management systems used for student advising student programs grading class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Ultra Experience with Blackboard or other webbased course management systems
  • Technologybased Instruction Experience with technologybased instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium interactive touch screen monitors LCD projectors DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing Construction and Transportation Pathway.

Hours/Location: This position is up to a .5 LTE. Hours location and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need.
Based out of the Oak Creek Campus 6665 S Howell Ave Oak Creek WI 53154.

Daytime availability is required.

Salary: Hourly rate of $70 per hour is equivalent to the base rate of $40/hour multiplied by the number of hours per course times 1.75 hours which covers office hours and prep time for instructional activities. Activities conducted outside of teaching (noninstructional) require approval and will be paid at the base hourly rate of $40.
