Job Description
The Washington DC office of Client seeks an Energy Paralegal with two to three years of law firm experience. If you have the appropriate experience we invite you to consider joining our team.
Legal Research: Conduct indepth research on complex energy laws regulations and case law related to utility regulation.
Document Drafting and Review: Prepare legal documents such as contracts lease agreements easement agreements power purchase agreements and regulatory filings related to energy projects.
Compliance Monitoring: Track changes in energy regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws for energy companies including reporting requirements.
Due Diligence: Perform legal due diligence on potential energy project acquisitions including reviewing land titles environmental assessments and regulatory compliance.
Litigation Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for litigation related to energy disputes including gathering evidence drafting legal briefs and managing discovery.
Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of energy law including federal and state regulations governing the energy industry.
Research Skills: Proficiency in legal research techniques to access and analyze relevant statutes regulations and case law.
Writing and Drafting Skills: Excellent ability to draft clear concise and legally sound legal documents.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in legal documents and compliance with regulations.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with clients attorneys and regulatory agencies.
Prior experience as a paralegal in a law firm specializing in energy law or within the legal department of an energy company is highly preferred.
Knowledge of specific energy sectors like solar wind or oil and gas can be advantageous.
