Job Description

SEN Teacher Highly Regarded SEN School Poole September Start

Location: Poole
Contract: FullTime Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS SEN Allowance

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a highly regarded SEN school in Poole. This school is known for its outstanding support for students with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and complex learning difficulties. Your Role as SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging personalised lessons for students with additional learning needs across KS3 and KS4.
  • Differentiate the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students ensuring a focus on developing key life skills communication and independence.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants therapists and external agencies to provide holistic support for students.
  • Monitor and track student progress adapting teaching strategies to support individual learning goals.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers ensuring regular communication about student progress and wellbeing.
  • Participate in the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to the annual review process.

Who Were Looking For:

  • A qualified SEN Teacher with experience working with students with a range of learning needs.
  • A patient empathetic and flexible teaching approach.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to adapt lessons and resources to suit individual student needs.
  • Experience using different communication methods (e.g. Makaton PECS) and supporting students with sensory or emotional needs is an advantage.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive supportive and respectful classroom environment.
  • Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
