Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Master Planning professional to join our team based in Houston TX.  We are looking for a motivated individual to help us both pursue and execute project work with a focus on Port and Marine Master Planning.  The focus of this work is typically working with clients to establish a vision for a 1020 year future planning horizon and then to identify strategic goals for effective development.  Projects typically balances many competing metrics such as capacity cost environmental impact etc. to derive a recommended longterm plan as well as interim phasing plans for development.  Projects may include both cargo and passenger operations as well as landside transportation networks serving ports.

You will be joining of a global team of 500 maritime specialists who support on a wide range of maritime developments including container terminals LNG facilities waterfront developments cruise and ferry terminals marinas and harbors as well as coastal schemes such as beach development and coastal protection schemes.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Proven business and technical experience having demonstrated client engagement skills that enabled problem synthesis and solution development through targeted interactions.
  • Collaboratively engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle process.
  • Leverage professional network to develop new opportunities.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Use software tools to simulate and optimize terminal operations.
  • Take on applicable project or task leadership roles and being responsible for the on time on budget and on specification delivery of services and solutions.
  • Advise on transport planning and engineering policies.
  • Research analyze and report on a range of future mobility modes.
  • Assist the Ports and Marine Texas group manager to strengthen and grow port practice in the gulf coast.
  • Assistance throughout the sales cycle by contributing to identifying leads transitioning these into opportunities formulating proposals and crafting work and project approaches.
  • Work within virtual teams in other geographies for seamless delivery of clients in any location.
  • Be a problem solver not a note taker. Ability to identify understand and focus on clients key requirements.
  • Manage one or more projects involving a full spectrum of services offered by AECOM.
  • Provides project and technical task management for one or more simultaneous projects.
  • Good presentation and communication skills in English.  Strong technical and proposal writing skills.
  • Ability to assist in developing new client relationships and to strengthen existing client relationships. 
  • Clear understanding of commercial drivers of clients and projects along with project risk and profitability.
  • Strong team leadership skills. Selfstarter energetic proactive.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in Civil Engineering Urban Planning Logistics Supply chain management Maritime studies or a related field. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Texas PE license is desirable but not mandatory. 
  • 8 years of experience in urban and regional planning preferably with experience in port terminal operations logistics or a related field.
  • Proficiency in terminal operating systems and other relevant software.
  • Accountable for cementing client relationships on continuing projects and for growing sales and booking growth from area clients.
  • Established residency in area.
  • Experience in ports marine or waterfront projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Prior experience working with public agencies private clients and major port authorities.
  • Strong business development experience including proposal writing and client negotiations.
  • Periodic travel might be required for periods of time
