Qualificationsand Experience

Education/Degree
  • Minimum fouryears of diverse and well rounded clinical experience required. Experiencerelevant to the clinical specialties of the unit preferred.
Preferred
  • MastersDegree in Nursing highly preferred.


Experience

  • Aminimum of four years of diverse and well rounded clinical experience required.

Licensure
  • Currentlicense from Massachusetts Board of Registration as Registered Nurse.

Skills(Specificlearned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills keyboardingpresentation CPR ACLS etc.

  • Computerproficiency required. Microsoft officeapplications preferred with ability to learn new software.

  • Nationalcertification in a nursing specialty preferred.
  • Highlydeveloped communications and interpersonal skills working with diversepopulation.
  • Workindependently be selfdirected and contribute as a member of a team.

Summary:

Essentialnursing leadership role within the organization with 24hour accountability fornursing care delivered on a patient care unit. Provide administrativeleadership and clinical expertise to ensure that comprehensive care andtreatment is rendered to patient/resident population. Human and material resources are managed toensure that patient/resident needs are met in an efficient and costeffectivemanner. Participate in quality improvement and program developmentactivities. Collaborate with the interdisciplinaryteam in the design implementation and evaluation of programs within theunit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 24houraccountability for the nursing care delivered on a patient care unit.
  • Nursingoperations are coordinated daily to achieve patient centered service qualityand cost objectives.
  • Nursingstaffing is actively managed to ensure safe staffing levels and budgetaryconstraints are met.
  • Nursingservices are delivered in accordance with professional standards of practicethe strategic plan for nursing and applicable organizational policies.
  • Continuededucation and research are fostered to advance clinical practice.
  • Unitcompliance is monitored and maintained to meet licensing and accrediting agencystandards.
  • Culturallycompetent care is provided using evidence based practice interventions.
  • Patientdocumentation is assessed and monitored to ensure compliance with hospital andregulatory standards.
  • PerformanceImprovement opportunities are identified. Solutions are implemented and monitoredto achieve established goals.
  • Marketingand outreach programs are actively participated in to increase theunderstanding of unit services.
  • Teammembers are hired mentored and continually developed to achieve stated goalsfor performance. Performance evaluationsare completed accurately and timely in accordance with organization standards.
  • Business/Unitplan is aligned with PCC strategy and is updated at least annually to drivechange to meet market and organizational goals.
  • Budgetis monitored to achieve financial objectives.
  • Practice isguided by and congruent with the American Nurses Associations Nursing Administration: Scope and Standardsof Practice and the American Organization of Nurse Executives Nurse Executive Competencies.
  • Additionaldepartment organization or network activities are completed per establishedobjectives.
  • The PCCOrganizational Values of Innovation Collaboration Accountability Respectand Excellence are upheld.
