Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three or more years of experience in a clinical laboratory or similar setting
Knowledge and experience of lab operational workflow
Knowledge of Sunquest Lab Systems modules or similar laboratory information systems (LIS)
Three or more years of experience with Sunquest Lab Systems or similar LIS
Experience supporting Sunquest or similar LIS in a high volume large/multihospital environment
Working knowledge of instrument and application HL7 interfaces
Experience with interfacing an LIS with Epic a plus
Experience and/or certification with Epic modules a plus
Skills Abilities Competencies:
Technical Skills
Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office products particularly Word and Excel as well as Internet Explorer
Proficient in use of Microsoft Windows
Familiar with HL7 standards
Experience with instrument interfacing including troubleshooting desired
Crystal Reports experience a plus
General understanding of IP addressing/ network infrastructure a plus

Working Conditions:
Employee will work primarily in an office environment with occasional visits to hospital laboratories and other related areas. On such occasions gloves and personal protective equipment may be required from timetotime. Individual should be able to lift up to 25 pounds (PCs and monitor printers and other devices). Sitting for 24 hours stand intermittently (less than an hour) and bending to lift objects.
Rotational oncall/off hours support will be required via pager for this position.

General Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Technical Systems Manager the incumbent provides technical and application support for the Sunquest Laboratory Information System and related software hardware and technologies used in support of the Clinical Pathology Laboratories across the Partners Healthcare Systems Inc. Contributes to IS projects related to the above.
The incumbent is expected to be able to:
Take a lead role and work independently on various initiatives
Represent the Enterprise Support Team in various setting
Responsibilities:
Provides daytoday support of Enterprise Sunquest Lab applications currently in use. These include General Laboratory SMART Microbiology and Collection Manager. Coverage will expand over time to include Sunquest Blood Bank and other related applications.
Participates in 24 x 7 on call support rotation.
Activities may include but are not limited to the following:
Responds to incidents assigned to the team diagnosing and working through to resolution. Collaborates with other Support Team members as well as lab operations various local and PHS technical teams and others as appropriate to facilitate resolution.
Assesses severity and impact of reported problems and applies efforts accordingly
Escalates issues with significant impact to the Technical Systems Manager and others as appropriate
Regularly communicates issue status to impacted groups and individuals
Brings in vendor resources as appropriate
Monitors system status and resources; takes corrective actions as appropriate
Monitors data transfers and systemtosystem interfaces; addresses issues if detected
Performs routine system maintenance and reviews operational reports according to agreed upon schedules or as need dictates; addresses findings as appropriate
Designs installs tests and maintain all instrument interfaces to/from Sunquest
Supports regular testing of high availability and disaster recovery systems.
Manages user accounts systems access etc.
Responds to and works/completes Service Requests submitted by laboratory staff
Participates in PHS Enterprise or localized projects and other initiatives. Activities may include but are not limited to the following:
Collaborates with project teams in planning design implementation and testing
Contributes Sunquest expertise to these activities; identifies alternatives; evaluates and puts proposed solution to the test
Participates in activities related to the rollout of Sunquest across PHS sites in accordance with the Partners Enterprise Pathology (PeP) and integration of Sunquest with Epic as part of the PHS eCare program.
Factors in the needs of individual hospitals while maintaining the integrity of Sunquest as an Enterprise solution.
Contributes to development and implementation of best practices department and team methods processes and procedures; adheres to same
Builds and maintains effective working relationships with laboratory staffs
Provides excellent customer service by being responsive to and addressing user problems concerns and questions; keeps lab staff informed of issues and progress; provides education where appropriate to foster better understanding and build end user knowledge and skills using Sunquest.
Readily shares knowledge and fosters learning of team members and others while performing support and maintenance activities and participating in projects.
