Vall dHebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall dHebron. Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Biotechnology grade.
- Master in Translational Biomedical Research offered by VHIR
- Fluency in Catalan Spanish and English (business level)
- Minimum of 8 published papers in international journals at least one as a first author
- Minimum of participation in 8 poster or oral presentations in seminars/meetings
- Participation in competitive projects.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 4 years of experience working in molecular biology and nextgeneration sequencing of RNA viruses
- Knowledge of viruses gradient isolation data collection and analysis
- Ability to teach and mentor new students
- Selfmotivates enthusiastic and committed to the work to be developed.
- Extensive expertise in nextgeneration sequencing and metagenomics
Desired:
- Experience in protein extraction
- Experience in Western Blot
- Experience in DNA and RNA extraction
- Experience in in iodixanol gradients qPCR
- Strong teaching skills
- Excellent ability in delivering oral presentations at local national and international meetings
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Coordinate the optimization of metagenomics methodologies
- Provide support for bioinformatic analysis following metagenomics runs and data acquisition
- Collaborate in writing papers
- Prepare and mentor new students
- Organize and ensure proper maintenance of the viral hepatitis laboratory
Labour conditions:- Parttime position: 35h/week.
- Starting date: As soon as possible.
- Gross annual salary: 28.770 (salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale).
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities 20 months).
