Job Description

General Summary:

The Gage Tech is responsible for addressing and performing exchanges on all functional gages used in the manufacturing plant. This role involves close collaboration with quality engineers and customers on gage correlation studies. The Gage Tech will ensure that functional gage designs align with company standards and will perform Gage R&R (Repeatability & Reproducibility) studies on new gages.

Essential Job Functions:

Note: These duties are not allencompassing and may vary based on operational needs:

  • Manage the usage and accuracy of the plant’s Gage Trak or applicable database.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to existing gages.
  • Assess and recommend calibration frequency adjustments based on historical data.
  • Perform monthly layered audits of floor gages.
  • Efficiently repair most mechanical and electronic gages.
  • Assist with troubleshooting floor Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Work closely with the Plant Maintenance group to repair and troubleshoot failing gages.
  • Attend all required crossfunctional meetings.
  • Participate in gage recall and certification tracking activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Assist with the documentation of NonConformances Corrective Actions and Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards at the site.
  • Make decisions within established standards and procedures.
  • Report near misses and incidents and cooperate with investigations.
  • Demonstrate and exemplify the company’s core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong understanding of gaging methods and terminology.
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation.
  • Familiarity with concepts practices and procedures in gaging.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2year degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting at a desk working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Capability to navigate and work within a manufacturing facility which may be temperaturecontrolled or nontemperaturecontrolled.
