About Ocean Steel and Construction Limited
Incorporated in 1955 Ocean Steel has grown to become one of the largest steel fabricators in Eastern Canada and one of the most respected steel suppliers on the Eastern Seaboard. It services several markets including all of Canada the Eastern United States Bermuda and the Caribbean. Ocean designs fabricates and erects structural steel for buildings and bridges. It also manufactures and installs platework such as breechings stacks ducts penstocks process & storage tanks and custom processequipment. OceanSteel has two modern New Brunswickbased plants in Saint John and in Fredericton. We currently have sales offices in Saint John New Brunswick Ontario Burlington Massachusetts and New York.
Job Summary
Ocean Steel and Construction Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Detailer with a desireto continuelearning on the job. TheDetailer willdevelop extensivesteelproduct knowledgeand follow department procedures for preparation of drawings and bills of material. This positionrequires high attention to detail toanalyzeschedules specifications architectural structural and steel fabricator drawings. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working withinrigid time constraints and can interact withOcean Steels Engineers Project Managers SalespeopleEstimators Production Supervisors and Field Erectors.
Responsibilities
- Detailing structural steel using SDS2 software by the Nemetschek Company
- Accurately producing drawings to meet contract specifications
- Effectively utilizing detailing software to produce quality drawings
- Thoroughly crosschecking architectural & structural contract drawings for conflicts and checking connection access for erection
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Requirements
- Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology graduate or previous experience in the construction industry along with the ability to read blueprints
- Experience with architectural drafting or detailing software
- Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset

- Ability to work well in a fastpaced deadline driven environment
