Utility Maintenance Mechanic 1: SUMMARY Under general supervision this person performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled tasks in the repair maintenance and preventive maintenance of the grounds buildings and equipment of a water treatment plant. Frequently acts as lead man for the utility workers that may be assigned. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Implements the preventive maintenance program which includes the daily weekly monthly semiannual and annual inspections. Conducts routine rounds on a daily weekly and monthly basis. Handles hazardous material in accordance with safety regulations. Operates a forklift and other heavy equipment as needed. Performs adjustments minor repairs and rebuilds as needed. Maintains necessary records to keep the program responsive and accurate. Assists the Utility Worker with the implementation of the summer grounds care program. Assists the Mechanic III with major repairs to the buildings systems and equipment of the treatment plant. Assists the Mechanic III with the implementation of special projects. Assists the Mechanic III with keeping the appearance of the treatment plant pleasing to the public. Assists the Mechanic III with the job and safety training. Assists the Mechanic III in keeping adequate inventories of parts and supplies. Acts as crew leader when needed. Remains available for afterhours calls and overtime as needed. Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned. Utility Maintenance Mechanic 2: SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Chief Mechanic this position performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled indepth complex tasks in the repair and preventive maintenance of the grounds buildings and equipment of a water treatment plant. Frequently acts as a Crew Leader for the Maintenance Mechanic I and Utility Workers. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists the Mechanic III in implementing the preventive maintenance program especially those portions that require considerable mechanical knowledge and skill including adjustments repairs and rebuilds. Assists as crew leader or crew supervisor for special projects or tasks. Assists the Mechanic III in implementing the summer grounds care program. Performs major repairs to the buildings systems and equipment of the treatment plant. Implements special projects. Completes daily paperwork to log hours on job reports and work orders and to process credit card transactions. Assists the Mechanic III in keeping the appearance of the treatment plant pleasing to the public particularly as pertains to his work area and equipment. Assists the Mechanic III with the job and safety training of the members of the maintenance team and assists in job interviews for Mechanic I Utility worker.. Assists the Mechanic III with keeping adequate inventories of parts and supplies. Assists the Mechanic III with planning work schedules and keeping reports and records in order. Will be available for overtime and callbacks as required by workload or emergencies. Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned. Rebuild chlorine equipment as needed. Utility Maintenance Mechanic 3: SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Treatment Plant Maintenance Foreperson this position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the SWT plant including pumping and storage facilities within the plant and Raw Water Reservoir. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Performs major overhaul maintenance work on any of the mechanical systems associated With the Surface Water Treatment Plant and the Raw Water Reservoir. Assists supervisor in on the job training of MM I MM II and Utility workers. Assist supervisor with safety program and training. Troubleshoots mechanical malfunctions. Coordinates with supervisor to schedule and prioritize workload for crew. Performs an extensive preventative maintenance program for the abovementioned grounds buildings equipment and pumping systems associated with the Surface Water Treatment Plant and Raw Water Reservoir. Generates requests for parts and equipment needed to carry out repairs and maintenance and other approved projects. Manages maintenance logs. Assists Supervisor with budgeting issues for the department. Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
The employee must also balance climb crawl crouch walk stand kneel stoop sit hear crouch feel finger grasp handle reach pull push speak see and talk. Also requires the ability to make rational decisions and perform repetitive motions. Shall be able to climb ladders stairs perform work at elevated heights and have the ability to stand on concrete for long periods of time. Ability to pass a respirator medical evaluation and subsequent annual respirator medical evaluation and conform to all requirements of the respirator qualifications fit testing which includes no facial hair on the jaws and chin.

Required Qualifications
Utility Maintenance Mechanic 1: Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and one year of relevant maintenance experience preferred. Must obtain a Class D Water Operators License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within one year of hire date Must obtain a Class C Surface Water Operators license within 2 years of hire date. Must have a working telephone for after hours call back. Utility Maintenance Mechanic 2: Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in the utility maintenance field Must have and maintain a Class C Surface Water Operators license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Requires a welding certification. Valid TX Drivers License is required. Must have a working telephone for after hours call back. Utility Maintenance Mechanic 3: Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent. Requires a minimum of three years experience in the water treatment maintenance field. Must have and maintain a Class C Surface Water Operators License. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Class B Commercial Drivers License. Must have and maintain a Chemical Applicators License from the Texas Department of Agriculture Must have welding Certification. Must have a working telephone for after hours call back. *The City of Amarillo will consider all relevant education and experience when determining an applicants minimum qualifications and starting salary.

Preferred Qualifications
Utility Maintenance Mechanic 1: Class B Commercial Drivers License preferred. Education in Industrial Maintenance preferred. Utility Maintenance Mechanic 2: Certificate or Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred. Valid Texas Class B Drivers License is preferred. BPAT license issued by the TCEQ preferred. Utility Maintenance Mechanic 3: A BPAT License issued by the TCEQ preferred. One year of experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred.
