Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for providing clinical leadership fostering superior quality patient care developing dental strategies goals and direction and recruiting and retaining the dental staff at the Crisis Service Diagnostic Center Dental Clinic. The Director works cooperatively and effectively with the Medical Director utilizing a balanced and collaborative approach to include the perspective of all disciplines involved with the outpatient center services ensuring the achievement of annual business and strategic goals and objectives. Delivers effective and efficient patient care in compliance with established clinical protocols during required clinical time.
Duties include:
Holds direct responsibility for all dental provider staff including orientation development clinical supervision evaluation quality oversight and participating in recruitment
In conjunction with the medical director the dental director assists in preparing and complying with the dental departments operating budget. In addition the Dental Director shall assist in preparing special grant and project budgets as required to meet the outpatient centers goals.
Collaborates with the Medical Director and Executive team in selecting and monitoring the performance of an Electronic Dental Record (EDR) and oversees updating the system testing and implementing new components.
Investigate and resolve patient grievances regarding quality of care.
Initiates and assists in developing and implementing department policies and procedures which comply with the most current accepted professional standards.
Leads and maintains an effective quality improvement/quality assurance program.
Evaluate patient dental problems and prescribe or plan appropriate treatment.
Provides comprehensive oral healthcare for acute and chronic problems through treatment with preventive and restorative techniques or referrals to outside sources for services beyond the scope of the practice.
Provides clear documentation of patient visit notes orders telephone calls clinical flow sheets and other records required by quality standards
Serves as a preceptor or resource for dental hygienists and clinical students as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have completed dental training at an accredited Dental School and received a DMD or DDS degree
Successful completion of a residency program in general dentistry
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required
License to practice dentistry in Georgia
Current DEA License
Current CPR certification and ACLS certification required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Must be detailoriented and be able to multitask effectively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to work well under pressure analyze and evaluate individual members needs reach sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Skilled in dental surgery and other treatment techniques
Extensive knowledge of the principles and practice of dental medicine in the care and treatment of patients
The ability to be flexible as to the changing needs of the outpatient center
Works calmly in a fastpaced healthcare facility.
Manages dental staff and has strong leadership skills.
Implements actionable plans to meet established goals and objectives.
Collaborates with coworkers and has strong interpersonal skills.
Communicates effectively and has strong public speaking skills.

Develop strong relationships with patients and their families and communicate with empathic skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative management grant management and budget development experience preferred
Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred
Work Hours and Benefits:
The current position is parttime. Since this is a new outpatient diagnostic center the dental director will work at least 70 of their time in the dental clinic providing patient services. Credentialing is performed to assess and confirm the qualification of a licensed and certified health care practitioner before the provision of patient care.
Salary is negotiable and dependent on professional qualifications and experience. Mercer University offers a competitive benefits package.
