Transactional Energy Projects Lawyer 6 10 years PQE
Edinburgh/Glasgow

Brief

Our Projects Group team is expanding and we are currently looking to recruit a talented transactional (noncontentious) energy projects lawyer with 610 years PQE to join our team. This is an opportunity focus on renewable energy projects primarily across the UK but also internationally the preference is for the candidate to join the Scottish team but all of our UK office locations would be considered. A number of our major client relationships and the projects on which we advise in the energy sector are led by partners based in our offices in Scotland.The role will primarily involve working with those partners but also with our wider national team.

As we have noted above a number of the key client relationships and projects are led by partners based in Scotland. Our Projects team works on a national basis and those Scotlandbased partners work on a daytoday basis with lawyers across our UK and international network. Our team is listed as Tier 1 in the Legal 500 in the Energy (excl. oil & gas) category for Scotland. Similarly our team is listed as Tier 1 by Chambers & Partners in the Energy (excl. oil & gas) and Projects categories for Scotland.

As a commercially minded firm that understands the market and key issues Pinsent Masons LLP is wellpositioned to advise a host of pension and infrastructure funds on a variety of low carbon assets and projects as well as traditional oil and gas clients engaging with renewables and energy transition work. While onshore and offshore wind continues to be a flagship component of the teams work the firm is also active in district heating battery storage and landmark hydrogen and pumped hydro projects. Ian McCarlie and Ronan Lambe colead the practice with the former largely active across the entire renewable projects space and the latter recognised for his specialism in power purchase agreements and emerging technologies. Ian and Ronan (who are Edinburgh based) work closely with a number of partners across our Scottish Offices on energy matters. These include Jennifer Ballantyne who is chiefly focused on the property planning and environmental aspects of energy developments and often works alongside Gary McGovern who is another expert in planning matters. Nicholas Carlin is a very experienced construction and offshore wind lawyer and a particular expert in turbine supply contracts while Gillian Frew takes the lead on financing instructions.

The teams pipeline is such that our vacancy would best suit a candidate well versed in energy related transactional (noncontentious) work.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity of exposure to energy projects work across a wide range of sectors both across the UK and internationally so experience and flexibility in that regard is an advantage. Experience in the energy sector in particular would be desirable.
