Job Description

Medical Technologist Phlebotomist (Contract)

VA Facility Augusta Maine

@Orchard LLC is a subcontractor supporting the Veterans Affairs Administration with an urgent need for two experienced Medical Technologists with at least 3 years of experience as a Phlebotomist to be located at the VA Healthcare Center in Augusta ME.

As the Medical Technologist (Phlebotomist) you will;
Provide essential onsite phlebotomy and specimen processing services for eligible Veterans ensuring the highest standards of care in alignment with Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Phlebotomy Services: Perform patient phlebotomy for inpatient ward rounds outpatient clinics Emergency Department (ED) and STAT/ASAP/timed draws.
  • Specimen Processing: Handle sample processing preparation for sendout and maintain specimen integrity.
  • Safety and Accuracy: Positively identify patients before sample collection and verify sample identification before testing or aliquoting. Protect the confidentiality of electronic and patient information.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify document and resolve collection processing testing or reporting issues.
  • PatientCentered Care: Deliver professional patientfocused service to ensure a high level of satisfaction among stakeholders and customers.
  • Technical Proficiency: Work in various lab areas as required demonstrating flexibility to adapt to the labs needs.
Your background will include
  • At least 3 years of demonstratable experience conducting phlebotomy and laboratory processing.
  • Certification to meet the standards of the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) id required
  • Certification from ASCP or AMT is preferred.
