TenureTrack Faculty 3 positions Assistant or Associate Professor
The College of Public Health is hiring three 3 tenuretrack faculty members whose research focuses on one of the following areas related to urban health: firearm injury reduction substance use and populationlevel mental health three critical challenges deserving innovative and improved programmatic and policy solutions. The searches are open to any healthrelated discipline and the home department for each faculty member will be decided based on the best fit for each candidate.
We invite applications for enthusiastic researchers interested in advancing interdisciplinary research and engaging in translational and/or implementation research. We anticipate a start date of Summer 2025.
Tenure track faculty are expected to engage in research teaching and service with research being their primary focus. Teaching may include didactic coursework at the undergraduate or graduate level depending upon department need and faculty expertise as well as mentorship of graduate researchers. Temple University offers excellent professional development and networking in research through the Office of the Vice President for Research and development in teaching through the Center for the Advancement of Teaching.
QUALIFICATIONS. We seek collegial faculty with an earned PhD in a healthrelated discipline. We are particularly interested in candidates with a track record of interdisciplinary collaboration and/or communityengaged research as well as a focus on disseminating their research to both scientific and lay audiences. Rank is open with faculty hired at the rank of assistant or associate professor depending on qualifications. For early career applicants preferred candidates hold the rank of assistant professor or a postdoctoral position and we will also consider exceptional doctoral students who will complete a doctorate prior to appointment. Midcareer and senior applicants should have an active externallyfunded research portfolio and scholarly record appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of associate professor. Cluster hiring of research teams including senior and early career faculty may be available. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.
THE COLLEGE. Our CEPHaccredited College of Public Healths mission is to educate innovate and transform to bring about healthy equitable and thriving communities. We dedicate ourselves to public health in all its parameters from epidemiology and health policy to nursing social work and rehabilitation and communication sciences. We engage in interprofessional education community and clinical practice impactful research and service learning approaching our work with cultural humility as we advocate for positive change and prepare leaders to address the most pressing issues of our time. Social justice has always driven our efforts and we understand that individual health outcomes are intricately tied to the larger systems we inhabit.
The College consists of academic units in the public health disciplines health professions and the School of Social Work enrolling approximately 4200 students. In Summer 2025 the College will move into its new stateoftheart teaching and research facility designed with collaboration sustainability and wellness in mind and located in the heart of Temples vibrant North Philadelphia campus.
The College of Public Health is home to a robust research environment. Our faculty and students published over 340 peer reviewed publications in Fiscal Year 2024. In 2023 12 of our faculty members were named among the top 150 most productive and impactful researchers at Temple University. Since 2018 10 members of our faculty have received early career development awards (K series awards) from the National Institutes of Health. Faculty and students in the College are fortunate to work with the talented team of research professionals working in our Office of Research Administration. This team of 8 individuals is focused both on the timely and accurate submission of new extramural applications as well as the fiscal management of existing awards working seamlessly with investigators across the College to prepare their funding applications (allowing them to focus on proposing the highest quality science) as well as the Office of the Vice President for Research at Temple University to make sure that applications are compliant with the universitys and sponsors policies and procedures. The College also is home to a Biostatistics Core which offers comprehensive biostatistical consultation and computational services to researchers in the College of Public Health and throughout Temple University as well as those in other institutions.
