One of our clients is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage maintain and secure enterprise databases while supporting SQL Server AWS data platforms and Snowflake environments. The DBA will monitor performance troubleshoot database issues optimize security and provide automation solutions.
The role requires strong expertise in SQL Server AWS database services and cloudbased data engineering. Additionally the candidate will support Power BI Snowflake administration and automation scripting. Afterhours support may be required for scheduled patches enhancements and database recovery efforts.
This is a hybrid role requiring 23 days onsite per week. Candidates must be available for inperson interviews if selected for further rounds.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration & Security
- Monitor SQL Server environments perform daily health checks and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Manage OLTP and OLAP SQL Server environments enforcing ISO security standards.
- Configure and administer database security policies conducting access audits and user role management.
- Perform database tuning query optimization and troubleshooting for performance bottlenecks.
- Automate tasks using scripting languages (Python Node.js PowerShell) to reduce manual intervention.
- Support data migration and synchronization strategies in largescale enterprise environments.
AWS & CloudBased Data Engineering
- Support data integration storage and governance on AWS cloud platforms.
- Configure and manage AWS native data services including S3 Aurora PostgreSQL DynamoDB Iceberg and Snowflake.
- Implement AWS Glue AWS Data Zone AWS Glue Data Catalog API Gateway and AWS Lambda to manage cloud data solutions.
- Ensure cloudbased data management best practices for scalability security and high availability.
Database & Application Support
- Provide database support for scheduled deployments and troubleshoot database failures.
- Assist in validating database environments after VITA system patches and upgrades.
- Perform unplanned database restores and disaster recovery testing in collaboration with VITA.
- Conduct root cause analysis for job failures network latency and database connectivity issues.
- Support and administer Power BI and Snowflake data environments.
Automation DevOps & Governance
- Develop automation for database administration tasks to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
- Implement monitoring logging and alerting solutions for SQL and cloud database infrastructure.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines and version control using GitHub Jenkins and AWS CodePipeline.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies maintaining data reliability and quality.
- Collaborate with stakeholders security teams and business analysts to align database solutions with business needs.
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- 8 years of experience in database configuration and management tools.
- 7 years of experience in database monitoring tuning security and troubleshooting.
- 7 years of experience with performance tuning scripting automation and resolving application issues.
- 7 years of experience with data migration synchronization and replication techniques in enterprise environments.
- 7 years of experience in AWS cloud data engineering supporting data integration storage and governance.
- 5 years of experience using AWS database services S3 Aurora PostgreSQL DynamoDB Iceberg Snowflake.
- 5 years of experience configuring data management on AWS using AWS Glue AWS Data Zone AWS Glue Data Catalog and API Gateway.
- 5 years of experience with DevOps tools and version control (GitHub Jenkins AWS CodePipeline).
- 7 years of experience handling multiple database tasks prioritization and problem resolution.
