Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a Project Engineer on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 23.25 29.68 per Hour
Summary:
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in delivering and implementing traffic and highway schemes aligned with Camdens Transport Strategy. This position involves ensuring projects are delivered on time within budget and to the required specifications while prioritizing safety sustainability and community engagement. The role also involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders to improve the boroughs transport infrastructure and promote sustainable modes of transport such as walking and cycling.
Responsibilities:
- Project Delivery & Implementation: Manage the delivery of traffic and highway schemes ensuring compliance with Camdens Transport Strategy and regulations. Oversee contractors and suppliers to ensure work is performed to the agreed timescales budget and standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal teams external partners and community groups to ensure smooth delivery of projects. Communicate with Ward Councillors local residents and other impacted stakeholders to keep them informed and address concerns.
- Compliance & Health and Safety: Ensure all schemes comply with Health and Safety Regulations including Construction Design and Management (CDM) guidelines. Maintain uptodate knowledge of legislation and best practices in traffic and highway engineering.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards within the team. Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues and participate in the dissemination of legislative updates.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Implementation Team Manager regarding the progress of schemes. Work closely with the highway contractors supervisors to ensure that work is completed to the required specifications and standards.
Qualifications:
- Degreelevel qualification in Engineering or Transportation or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven track record of successful engineering and project management experience.
- Strong knowledge of contract management including conditions of contract specifications and financial procedures.
Experience:
- Significant professional experience in traffic engineering and highway implementation.
- Experience managing highways term contractors to ensure the effective delivery of schemes.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations including CDM and preparation of risk assessments.
Essential:
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to deliver engineering solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Proficiency in relevant software for project planning and reporting.
- Flexibility to attend onsite visits and outofhours meetings when required
