Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment on the night shift. This role is ideal for a highly skilled nurse who can provide intermediatelevel care to postsurgical patients transitioning from the ICU. The RN will be responsible for monitoring patient progress managing complex postoperative cases and ensuring a smooth recovery process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive postsurgical care to patients in a stepdown unit
  • Monitor vital signs telemetry wound care and pain management
  • Respond to changes in patient conditions and escalate care when necessary
  • Collaborate with surgeons intensivists and the healthcare team for optimal recovery outcomes
  • Document patient care accurately using Insert Charting System
  • Adhere to hospital protocols infection control and patient safety standards
Qualifications:
  • Active RN License in IL (or compact license if applicable)
  • BLS & ACLS Certification (Required)
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Surgical Stepdown or Progressive Care (Required)
  • EPIC or other EHR experience (Preferred)
  • Strong critical thinking and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new healthcare environments
