Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Building Control Surveyor on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 383.00 510.01 per Day
Hours per week: 21
Summary:
We are seeking a Building Control Surveyor to examine and inspect Building Regulation submissions plans and site works. You will ensure compliance with Building Regulations the London Building Acts and other relevant legislation. This role requires providing expert advice to clients enforcing building control standards and contributing to highquality service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Building Control & Compliance: Examine Building Regulation applications and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Manage a caseload involving plan examination calculation reviews record maintenance and enforcement duties including attending court when required.
- Client Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert advice to architects builders and other clients on the design and technical compliance of projects. Respond to inquiries from the public Councillors and MPs regarding building control matters.
- Service Delivery & Performance Monitoring: Monitor and track income and expenditure related to cases. Promote the Authoritys Building Control Service through interactions with industry professionals and provide timely and accurate technical reports.
- Health & Safety & Emergency Response: Ensure health and safety practices are implemented across all activities. Participate in emergency response including dangerous structures and civil emergencies which may require working outside standard hours.
- Progression Responsibilities (PO2 & PO3 Grades): For PO2: Handle complex plans and largerscale projects with minimal supervision. Assist in service development and marketing initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Degree or HNC in Building Surveying Building Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in building control including plan examination and site inspections.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Building Act 1984 Building Regulations and the London Building Acts.
- For PO3: Full professional membership (e.g. MRICS MBEng MICE MIStructE RIBA MIFireE).
Essential:
- Ability to manage multiple cases while meeting deadlines and service objectives.
- Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to make sound decisions independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication for technical reports and client engagement.

- Flexibility to work outside normal hours including evenings and weekends when required.
