Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are looking for Versatile curious and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer you will be an integral part of a multifunctional development team inventing designing building and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
The Work itself:
- Design code and systems that touch 40 of the world population while influencing Visas internal standards for scalability security and reusability
- Collaborate multifunctionally to create design artifacts and develop bestinclass software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
- Actively contribute to product quality improvements valuable service technology and new business flows in diverse agile squads
- Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including enduser merchants b2b and business to government solutions.
- Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services Transaction Platforms RealTime Payments and Buy Now Pay Later Technology

Essential Functions:
Takes a handson approach in designing and developing software while simultaneously guiding the team in developing code that adheres to design specifications and meets security best practices.
- Proactively proposes automation to improve effectiveness and efficiencies of systems and tools and supports development and implementation of new automation identifying where investment will yield the greatest efficiencies.
- Leverages backend technical expertise on underlying systems/platforms across teams and telemetry analyses to propose scalable improvements in code processes and designs with an emphasis on customer/business objectives.
- Engages with product engineering teams and product owners across teams by leading code/design reviews hosting regular meetings and participating in oncall rotations and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
- Communicates complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders ensuring clarity and alignment on project goals and requirements and facilitates collaborative efforts within and across teams.

**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance we have awesome team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didnt work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications :
Desirable Experience:
- Agile Methodologies: Experience with Scrum and other Agile methodologies ability to drive and facilitate scrum ceremonies (sprint planning refinements daily standups retrospectives)
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in Java 17 and above Java Concurrency / Multithreading; OOP and Enterprise design patterns Lambda functions and functional patterns
- Cryptography: Asymmetric Key Encryption JWE/JWS SSL/TLS
- Spring Framework: Spring Boot Spring Data Spring Batch Spring AOP Spring Security
- Containerization: Docker Kubernetes
- Cloud Services: Experience with AWS EC2 S3 RDS Lambda etc.
- Database Management: ORM SQL (MySQL DB2 Liquibase NoSQL
- Microservice Architecture: Designing and developing microservices interservice communication (REST Pub/Sub)
- Messaging Systems: Apache Kafka RabbitMQ
- Generative AI: Prompt engineering understanding of RAG and fine tuning familiarity with tools like Langchain and Crew AI
- SSDLC: Experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools (Nexus SonarQube Checkmarx ESLint Checkstyle)
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD): Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins GitLab CI or CircleCI for automated testing and deployment.
- Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems particularly Git and best practices for branching merging and versioning.
- Code Quality: Experience conducting and participating in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices. Practice and advocate for testing methodologies such as TDD BDD AAT. Proficiency in developing automated tests using tools like Selenium TestNG or Cypress. Ability to define and monitor code quality metrics such as code coverage cyclomatic complexity and technical debt.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Math Science Engineering or Computer Science Information Systems or related field AND minimum six 6 years of experience in a directly related field.
OR - Bachelors degree in Math Science Engineering or Computer Science Information Systems or related field AND minimum eight 8 years of experience in a directly related field.
OR - Minimum eleven 11 years of directly related experience.
