We are seeking an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team and develop realtime firmware for our robotic systems. The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of experience in embedded firmware development particularly for realtime control of BLDC motors sensors and communication protocols. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams ensuring seamless integration of firmware with hardware and software components. Your work will be pivotal in driving innovation and performance in our robotic platforms.
Duties and responsibility
- Design develop and optimize realtime embedded firmware for custom electronic boards used in robotics platforms.
- Implement BLDC motor control algorithms including FieldOriented Control (FOC) current sensing and filtering techniques.
- Develop and integrate sensor interfaces (e.g. encoders temperature sensors ADC) for precise motion control and monitoring.
- Work on realtime communication protocols (EtherCAT CAN UART SPI I2C) to enable highspeed data exchange in robotic systems.
- Develop and maintain bootloaders for firmware updates and device initialization.
- Conduct hardwareintheloop (HIL) testing ensuring robustness and reliability in realworld conditions.
- Optimize firmware for power management and Battery Management Systems (BMS) ensuring efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to define specifications and ensure seamless firmwarehardware integration.
- Contribute to firmware architecture design code reviews debugging and performance optimization.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously enhance our firmware solutions.
Qualifications :
Required skills:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems with strong proficiency in C/C.
- Solid understanding of realtime operating systems (RTOS) and microcontroller architectures.
- Proven expertise in BLDC motor control including FOC PWM current control loops and filtering techniques.
- Handson experience with Texas Instruments and/or STM32 microcontrollers.
- Expertise in communication protocols (EtherCAT CAN UART SPI I2C) for highspeed data transfer.
- Strong debugging skills including oscilloscope logic analyzers and static code analysis tools.
- Familiarity with bootloader development for embedded systems.
- Experience with hardwareintheloop (HIL) testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of power electronics BMS development and power management techniques.
- Experience using version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools.
- Fluency in English (Spanish is a plus).
Preferred skills:
- Prior experience in robotics or autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with embedded middleware solutions such as Quantum Leaps for task scheduling and eventdriven architectures.
- Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) and control loop tuning.
- Understanding of thermal management and energy efficiency in embedded systems.
- Exposure to Qt for graphical interface development.
- Knowledge of Linuxbased embedded development.
