Job Description
Bekums Apprenticeship program offers a comprehensive opportunity for individuals seeking a career in machining. This program combines onthejob training with specialized courses at Lansing Community College fully sponsored by Bekum.
As a Machining Apprentice you will:
- Complete 8000 hours of rigorous training to develop expertise in machining techniques and processes
- Learn to operate and maintain various machining equipment including CNC machines
- Develop problemsolving skills to address complex machining challenges
- Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals and fellow apprentices to enhance your skills and knowledge
- Work towards obtaining a Journeymans certificate from the US Department of Labor upon successful completion of the program
- Have the opportunity to pursue an Associates Degree to further your education and career prospects
Specialization options include Electrical Systems CNC Machining Welding Mechatronics and Machine Building. The chosen specialization will determine the focus of your apprenticeship training.

Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate for the Machining Apprentice position will be a high school senior graduating in 2025. It is imperative that the applicant possesses the physical and mental capabilities necessary to perform the work of the selected skilled trade. A valid drivers license and reliable transportation are requiredfor this role.
Application Materials:
Prospective apprentices are required to submit the following documents for consideration:
- A comprehensive uptodate resume detailing career objectives relevant skills employment history and educational background.
- Current high school transcripts which must be official.
- A formal letter of recommendation from a nonfamily member such as a teacher academic advisor or employer attesting to the applicants character and aptitude.
- Copies of any pertinent achievement awards received during the applicants high school tenure if applicable. These documents serve to demonstrate the candidates commitment to excellence and relevant accomplishments.
The selection process for this apprenticeship program is rigorous and only candidates who meet all specified criteria and submit all required materials will be considered for this opportunity.
