Associate Cybersecurity Engineer Intern - Ashburn VA

Located in Ashburn office Associate Cybersecurity Engineer Intern in Secure Access and Enforcement will play a critical role in the daily operations as part of the cybersecurity team supporting a global mission. This role involves operating and maintaining the Visa enterprise Secure Access Service Edge capability including the Cloud Access Security Broker OpenDNS DLP solutions and other related components. The position reports to the Director Secure Access and Enforcement as part of the Cyber Operations & Discovery Team.  This position requires handson involvement during problem identification and resolution activities. It demands a blend of technical expertise and leadership capabilities to ensure the security of Visas onprem and cloud environments as well as collaborating with a team of cybersecurity analysts.

Some job duties and projects could include:

• Review and evaluate incidents as submitted by internal customers to ensure we adhere to standard procedures and quality entries to the incidents.
• Helps with developing and driving innovations within the team.
• Participate in strategic initiatives.
• Provide technical direction and support for operational security issues.
• Support troubleshooting and resolving issues related to SASE capabilities (e.g. Palo Alto Networks Prisma and Zscalar).
• Provide technical assistance in developing Standard Operating Procedures for technical efforts in security related operational areas.
• Participate and execute the monitoring analysis and resolution of incidents and trouble tickets associated with SASE systems and tools issues for its team.
• Ensure compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to guarantee timely responses.
• Support and contribute to incident bridges for timely resolution of internal issues.
• Assist with analyzing and reporting operational security key performance and risk metrics to drive program improvements.
• Propose automation ideas to gain efficiency and improve processes.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Consistently demonstrate Visa leadership principles.
• Maintain and achieve new technical skills to improve overall security of the Vida enterprise network

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications 

• Students pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering CIS/MIS Cybersecurity Business or a related field with less than 2 years relevant work experience graduating December 2025 or later.
• Strong communications skills specifically the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors clear and concise written and spoken communications that demonstrate professional judgment.  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Analytical and problemsolving skills
• Understanding of network monitoring concepts and management tools.
• Network Security: Indepth understanding of firewalls VPNs secure web gateways and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• SASE Technologies: Familiarity with SASE platforms and technologies including SDWAN CASB and secure web gateways
• Cloud Services: Experience or Familiarity with cloud service providers (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) and cloud security practices.
• Identity and Access Management (IAM): Familiarity with IAM solutions and practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of native cloudbased security monitoring tools.
• Zero Trust Architecture: Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and implementation.
• Compliance and Regulations: Knowledge of industryspecific compliance requirements (e.g. GDPR HIPAA PCIDSS).
• Incident Response: Experience or Familiarity in managing security incidents and response strategies.
• Risk Management: Understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

Additional Information :

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated hourly range for a new hire into this position is $27/hr to $31/hr which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on jobrelated factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location. In addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
