Site: Toronto General Hospital
Department:  Cardiology
Reports to: Physician
Salary: $22.46 $28.08 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: 3 days per week
Status: Permanent PartTime
Closing Date:  April 30 2025
 

The Medical Administrative Assistant I utilize knowledge of medical terminology and exercises judgment or decisionmaking to provide secretarial and clerical services in support of professional/medical personnel.  

Duties

  • Providing word processing/typing services for assigned personnel
  • Performing reception responsibilities
  • Maintaining written and/or electronic calendar/schedules
  • Administering and monitoring billing procedures and budgeting records
  • Providing support with small and/or informal meetings/events
  • Maintaining and modifying confidential medical electronic/paper filing/retrieval methods systems and/or formats
  • Providing functional supervision to lower classified clerical position(s)
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the office
  • Performing crossfunctional responsibilities as assigned
  • Performing other related clerical activities and duties consistent with the job classification as required

Qualifications :

  • Community College Diploma in General or Medical Office or equivalent AdministrationAt least one 1 to two 2 years of related experience
  • Extensive onthejob computer/word processing database and spreadsheet software experience required; advanced experience in a Microsoft Office environment required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Previous experience in coordinating room bookings and scheduling
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be a good team player
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as per UHN and departmental policies
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
