Senior Planning Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

JASARA PMC is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Urban Planning Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading urban planning initiatives, providing expert advice, and ensuring that projects align with the overall urban development strategy. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop sustainable and innovative urban designs that meet the community needs and regulatory requirements.

Your expertise will be pivotal in conducting feasibility studies, preparing planning reports, and engaging with stakeholders to foster positive relationships and collaborative project developments.

Project Planning and Scheduling
Develop Project Plans: Create detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
Create Schedules: Develop comprehensive project schedules, identifying the sequence of tasks, dependencies, and critical paths using scheduling tools (such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software).
Resource Allocation: Coordinate with project teams to allocate resources (labor, equipment, materials) effectively, ensuring that each task has the necessary resources at the right time.
Budget Planning: Assist with preparing project budgets by providing accurate estimates for time and resources, and ensuring that the planned schedule is within financial constraints.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting
Monitor Project Progress: Continuously track the progress of ongoing projects, comparing actual progress against the planned schedule. Ensure tasks are completed on time and identify any delays.
Prepare Progress Reports: Generate regular progress reports for senior management, stakeholders, and clients, highlighting the current status of the project, any delays, risks, or issues that may affect the timeline.
Identify Delays and Issues: Identify potential delays and any issues that could impact the project schedule and escalate them to project management for timely action.
Update Schedules: Revise and update the project schedules regularly to reflect any changes in project scope, timelines, or resources.
Risk Management and Mitigation
Identify Risks: Identify potential risks that may affect project timelines and deliverables, such as material shortages, weather disruptions, or labor issues.
Mitigate Risks: Work with the project team to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize the impact of risks on the schedule.
Risk Reporting: Regularly report identified risks to senior management and propose actions to address or avoid these risks.

Desired candidate profile

• Bachelors/ Masters/ PhD in Urban Planning or Architecture equivalent
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in urban planning and design
• Proven experience in leading urban planning projects, with a solid portfolio of completed works
• Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, land use regulations, and sustainable design practices
• Proficient in relevant planning software and tools (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp)
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders
• Experience in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable
