Job Description

Position Overview

The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Strategy and Administration drives institutional strategy and manages core administrative functions that enable the universitys mission. This senior executive position oversees seven critical domains: Strategy and Planning Admissions Enrollment and Financial Aid Finance Human Resources Information Technology and Contracts/Legal/Risk. This leader ensures operational excellence while positioning the institution for longterm success through strategic leadership and administrative innovation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy and Planning


The EVP leads the development and execution of comprehensive institutional strategies:

Orchestrates the universitys strategic planning process in collaboration with other members of the Executive Leadership team

Demonstrates commitment to incorporating equity considerations into institutional strategy and planning

Develops and implements frameworks for tracking the implementation of strategic initiatives and measuring institutional progress

Facilitates crossfunctional alignment of departmental strategies with institutional objectives working collaboratively with the Provost and other EVPs

Creates and maintains systems for monitoring market trends in higher education to position Minerva to pursue missionaligned opportunities

Establishes metrics and a performance management system to evaluate strategic outcomes and guide decisionmaking

2. Admissions Enrollment and Financial Aid


The EVP oversees comprehensive admissions and enrollment strategies and operations:

Develops strategic admissions and enrollment goals aligned with the university s mission and its goals for impact and financial sustainability

Ensures strong collaboration between admissions enrollment and finance teams to develop and implement the strategy to achieve the goals for each admissions cycle

Ensures integration of enrollment strategies with academic program delivery capacity and longrange financial forecasts

Develops and implements a financial aid strategy that enables access for exceptional students regardless of economic status while maintaining the universitys financial sustainability

Establishes metrics and processes to continuously evaluate and refine financial aid models to maximize both mission impact and institutional viability

Establishes datadriven frameworks for optimizing recruitment admissions enrollment and retention in partnership with Minerva s academic departments

Creates innovative approaches to Minerva s market positioning and competitive differentiation for attracting prospective applicants

Implements systems for forecasting enrollment trends and adjusting strategies accordingly

Ensures strong collaboration between admissions and enrollment staff and finance team to create and communicate consistently the financial aid packages for admitted students

3. Finance


The EVP provides strategic financial leadership and oversight:

Directs institutional financial strategy planning and operations

Develops and implements longterm financial models that support strategic objectives

Ensures robust financial controls and risk management systems

Oversees budget development and resource allocation processes working closely with the other ELT members

Manages relationships with financial institutions auditors and investment partners

4. Human Resources


The EVP leads strategic human capital management:

Develops comprehensive talent strategies that support institutional excellence and promote a diverse inclusive work environment within a global workforce

Creates and manages a total compensation philosophy that guides decisions about salary and benefits

Designs and implements an annual performance management process for all nonfaculty employees

Oversees monthly payroll and contractor payments

Establishes systems for workforce planning and succession management

Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations while promoting best practices

Implements equitable hiring practices and retention strategies that foster a culture of belonging

Fosters a collaborative and supportive environment for staff that values employee retention and professional growth

5. Information Technology Organizational Systems


The EVP directs institutional technology strategy and operations (excluding learning technologies):

Develops and executes comprehensive IT strategies aligned with institutional goals working collaboratively with the other ELT members

Collaborates with EVP of Academic Operations to ensure coordination between enterprise systems and instructional technologies

Oversees an excellent tech support function in support of all employees

Develops cybersecurity and data privacy strategies that address international regulations and protect the diverse student faculty and staff body

Oversees enterprise systems implementation and integration

Establishes disaster recovery and business continuity protocols

6. Contracts/ Legal/Risk


The EVP ensures effective contracts and legal oversight and risk management:

Develops comprehensive risk management strategies

Oversees external counsel relationships

Manages a portfolio of student housing leases around the world aligned with the goals of the global rotation model

Manages relationships with external real estate partners in rotation cities

Ensures institutional compliance with regulatory requirements

Creates frameworks for policy development and implementation

Manages intellectual property protection

Requirements :

Education & Experience Requirements

Education


Masters degree required (MBA MPA or equivalent); terminal degree (JD EdD) preferred

Advanced training in strategic planning and finance required

Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g. CPA SHRMSCP) valued but not required

Experience


Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible leadership experience with at least 8 years at a senior administrative level

Significant experience in higher education administration is strongly preferred

Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution at an institutional level

Proven track record in financial management and resource optimization

Extensive experience in change management and organizational transformation
