INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION: MARINE CONSTRUCTION
TITLE: CRANE OPERATOR
LOCATION: LIGHTHOUSE POINT FL (OPERATING AREA: BROWARD MIAMIDADE AND PALM BEACH COUNTIES)
FUNCTION: CONSTRUCTION & LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT
CLASSIFICATION: FULL TIME NONEXEMPT HOURLY
REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER
POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
As a Dock Experts Crane Operator you are the first line of defense in overseeing the safe and efficient operation of cranes and heavy machinery on construction projects in challenging marine environments. This role demands a skilled operator who is committed to maintaining high standards of safety precision and operational excellence while also fostering a growth mindset to continuously improve team performance contribute to leadership development and support organizational goals. You will work closely with your team office personnel drafting permitting inspectors and other key stakeholders to coordinate planning lifting positioning and movement of materials and equipment across the site ensuring each task is performed with the utmost accuracy. Your leadership safety awareness and growthdriven approach will contribute to the success of the project and the team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Be the primary operator of a 78 Link Belt Friction Crane on one of our barges for demolition construction and installation of a variety of seawall & pile types
Uphold the highest standard of safety & efficiency in lifting rigging and load positioning of all project materials & equipment to ensure compliance with all regulations & company protocols
Conduct & report on daily inspections proactively addressing safety maintenance & repair needs
Participate in prejob meetings and safety briefings sharing your expertise & insights to improve the planning & execution of construction activities
Communicate positively professionally & productively with the team and visitors to the site to ensure alignment on goals equipment usage and operational priorities
Demonstrate the ability to think critically proactively troubleshoot/resolve issues & adjust crane movements as necessary to respond to changing site conditions crane operation/lifting plans unpredictable weather project delays & other unforeseen circumstances
Maintain a calm & focused demeanor under pressure ensuring that operations & safety are never compromised
Embrace new technologies techniques & best practices to improve crane performance project efficiency & team cohesion
Encourage a culture of feedback and learning within the team provide input on lift plans rigging methods and site logistics to promote openness to new ideas/ways of working & optimize workflow and minimize operational risk
Actively seek opportunities for skill development certification leadership industry advancements & technical expertise to continuously enhance your performance and leadership ability
Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Valid crane operator certifications (e.g. NCCCO RTITB or equivalent) marine construction certifications and safety certifications (e.g. OSHA STCW)Minimum 2 years of experience operating cranes in a marine construction or similar heavy civil construction environment
Strong problemsolving skills ability to make sound decisions & take decisive action quickly
Proven ability to work as a part of a team effectively communicating and consistently motivated to keep projects on or ahead of schedule often in tough working conditions
Physical stamina to walk stand bend and lift heavy objects (50 lbs.) regularly
Ability to work a full shift in challenging outdoor conditions including extreme heat and marine environments
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle highstakes situations with professionalism
Positive cando attitude with a strong focus on achieving team goals and client satisfaction
Willingness to contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and systems
Ability to swim work at heights & in confined spaces as required by certain projects
Ability to pass a controlled substance screening
Ability to pass a background check
Maintain a current valid driver s license
Maintain reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work
Conversational in English
