Job Description
This is a remote position.
We are looking for an experienced Advanced Variant Configuration Consultant to support a large AVC migration programme for our client.
Role: Advanced Variant Configuration Consultant
Type of job: Freelance / Contract
Utilisation: Full time (40 hrs / week)
Period: 01.03.2025 01.08.2025 (with option to extend)
Location: Remote with ability to travel to the customer site in Germany for occasional meetings desired

Summary
We are looking for an experienced SAP Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) Consultant to support a large AVC migration programme for our client. The role involves reviewing and analysing existing configuration documentation to identify commonalities differences and sitespecific setups. Key tasks include developing a comparison matrix recommending and implementing either a harmonisation strategy (e.g. aligning global and local CSTICS classes and dependencies) or a liftandshift approach (migrating and modifying existing data). The successful candidate will plan execute and test the chosen approach ensuring updated configuration profiles are effective and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
Key activities
Document Review and Analysis
- Examine existing documentation related to variant configuration setups across different sites.
- Identify shared data unique data and sitespecific configurations.
Identification of Commonalities and Differences
- Create a comparison matrix to highlight common and unique elements across various sites.
- Analyse the matrix to identify opportunities for harmonisation or evaluate the suitability of a liftandshift approach.
Harmonisation Strategy Development
- Define objectives for harmonising global and local CSTICS classes dependencies and other configuration elements.
- Develop a framework for categorising global and local data.
- Generate VC data aligned with the newly defined structure.
LiftandShift Strategy Development
- Plan the migration of existing data using a liftandshift approach.
- Adjust constraints or procedures by modifying syntax as required.
Execution and Testing
- Implement the selected strategy (harmonisation or liftandshift) update configuration profiles and conduct comprehensive testing.
- Oversee the implementation process and collect feedback for continuous improvement.

Requirements
- All applicants must reside in the EU or UK.
- Fluent English.
- Proven expertise in advising and implementing SAP AVC including building object dependencies.
- Handson experience with migrating SAP LOVC to SAP AVC.
- Ability to guide the client through the SAP AVC migration process and configure the system including writing object dependencies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- High level of commitment independence and personal responsibility.
Optional
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with SAP S/4HANA AVC.
- Relevant certifications.
- Knowledge of discrete manufacturing.
- Experience in working with consulting companies.
