Science Teacher Vibrant PRU Barnet
Role: Science Teacher
Nature: FullTime Permanent
Start: April 2025
Salary: MPS/UPS SEN Allowance
A vibrant and supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Barnet is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join their team from April 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who may have faced challenges in mainstream education helping them rediscover a passion for learning through engaging and practical Science lessons.
Role Highlights:
- Fulltime permanent position at a vibrant PRU in Barnet
- Teach Science to students who may have social emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs or have been excluded from mainstream education
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across key stages focusing on practical experiments and realworld applications
- Provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs ensuring that each student can access and engage with the curriculum
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated and encouraged to succeed
- Work collaboratively with a supportive team including teaching assistants SEN staff and external specialists to provide a holistic approach to student development
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs providing tailored interventions when necessary
Experience & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Science at secondary level ideally in an alternative education PRU or SEN setting
- Strong understanding of the Science curriculum and the ability to adapt it for students with diverse needs
- A patient empathetic and flexible approach to teaching students with SEMH or behavioural challenges
- Excellent communication teamwork and problemsolving skills
- Enhanced DBS check required
