Responsibilities
Perform clinical physics duties in areas such as radiotherapy diagnostic imaging nuclear medicine or radiation protection
Ensure safe operation and quality assurance of radiological and imaging equipment
Conduct calibration testing and maintenance checks on medical physics equipment
Support radiation safety programmes and ensure compliance with national and international regulations
Assist in treatment planning and dose calculations for radiotherapy patients
Analyse and interpret scientific and technical data related to patient treatments and imaging procedures
Participate in acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment and technologies
Provide technical advice and support to consultants radiographers radiation therapists and other healthcare professionals
Maintain accurate documentation reports and quality control records
Participate in clinical audits research activities and service development projects
Assist in developing and implementing departmental policies protocols and standard operating procedures
Support training and education of junior staff students and multidisciplinary teams
Ensure adherence to hospital health & safety policies and radiation protection legislation
Participate in continuing professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical physics practices and technologies
Requirements
Hold a recognised first or second class honours degree with Physics as a major subject
Possess a postgraduate qualification in a scientific or engineering discipline
Demonstrate the knowledge competence and suitability required for the effective discharge of duties
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Completion of a formal training scheme in Medical Physics
Experience in the field of medical imaging or radiotherapy
Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare environments
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining high professional standards
Strong analytical organisational and problem-solving skills
Commitment to quality assurance patient safety and continuous professional development
