We are currently recruiting a Peer Support Workerfor a leading hospital in Dublin Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team and make a meaningful contribution to mental health services in a care environment built on quality respect and compassion.
Mode of Working: On-site
Contract Type: Permanent Full-Time
Hours of Work: 39hours per week / 78 hours per fortnight.
Responsibilities
Support patients in developing and achieving personal recovery plans through individual and group-based coaching sessions.
Assist service users in identifying their strengths interests abilities and personal recovery goals.
Encourage individuals to take an active role in their recovery by promoting the principles of hope choice independence and opportunity.
Provide guidance and mentorship by sharing recovery-focused coping strategies and modelling positive recovery practices.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to the assessment planning implementation and review of patient care plans.
Support patients and their families/carers in a solution-focused manner encouraging participation in goal setting and recovery planning.
Monitor patients wellbeing and progress provide appropriate emotional support and report any significant changes or concerns to nursing management.
Promote independent living community engagement and the development of positive relationships with family friends and support networks.
Assist and accompany patients to appointments therapeutic sessions and community-based or social activities where appropriate.
Maintain accurate records attend team meetings and supervision sessions comply with organisational policies and Mental Health Commission standards and report incidents or concerns to the Clinical Nurse Manager
Requirements
Hold a recognised qualification in Peer Support Work within Mental Health services.
Possess a minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience as a Peer Support Worker preferably within a psychiatric hospital setting.
Demonstrate experience working in adult mental health rehabilitation or community-based mental health services.
Have completed Wellness Recovery Action Programme (WRAP) training with practical experience applying this recovery model in care settings.
Maintain a strong understanding of Mental Health Commission standards and regulatory requirements.
Possess sound knowledge of health safety and statutory regulations relevant to healthcare organisations.
Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development and ongoing learning.
