We are currently recruiting for the position of Healthcare Assistant (Endoscopy) for a hospital based in Westmeath Ireland.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation care and support of patients before during and after endoscopic procedures.
Support patients with daily living activities mobility hygiene comfort and safe transfer within the unit.
Prepare endoscopy rooms equipment and clinical areas to ensure procedures run safely and efficiently.
Provide post-procedure care and promptly report any patient concerns or changes in condition to nursing staff.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control including hand hygiene PPE use and environmental cleanliness.
Assist with patient positioning safe moving and handling practices and Emergency First Aid under clinical supervision.
Support patient nutrition hydration and monitoring of fluid intake as directed by the nursing team.
Communicate effectively with registered nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe compassionate and efficient patient care.
Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health & safety policies reporting incidents and following manual handling procedures.
Assist with stock control documentation unit organisation mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
Healthcare FETAC Level 5 Qualification / QQI Major Award in Healthcare essential
Patient Care Support and Activities of Daily Living modules desirable
Previous experience in a healthcare endoscopy or theatre environment desirable but not essential
Strong communication interpersonal and organisational skills
Basic IT skills and familiarity with electronic patient record systems desirable
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Professional caring and compassionate approach to patient care
Commitment to maintaining patient dignity confidentiality and privacy at all times
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
