ABOUT THE CLIENT

Headquartered in Ireland our client has been delivering electrical power engineering services since 2002. Operating across the industrial commercial utilities and renewables sectors the business specialises in MV and LV power.

Field teams are active across Ireland UK France Netherlands Belgium and Germany with a rapidly growing project pipeline across renewables pharma and data centres.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Building its commissioning capability in-house to reduce reliance on external subcontractors develop internal engineering talent and support a rapidly expanding European project pipeline with senior technical leadership.

Commissioning Leadership & Delivery

• Own the full commissioning lifecycle from Project Handover to closeout including O&M files and as-built documentation
• MV switchgear transformers protection relays HMI/SCADA commissioning
• Generator and grid interface commissioning
• Live schedule management and client reporting

Team Building & Capability

• Grow the commissioning function across Ireland UK and mainland Europe
• Deliver hands-on training in relay testing MV/HV switchgear and energisation
• Embed a culture of ownership technical rigour and client focus
• Manage internal and contracted commissioning teams across six European markets

Engineering Quality & Client

• Develop and maintain commissioning protocols; ensure ISO compliance
• Review tender design and as-built drawings; identify critical commissioning requirements early
• Act as senior technical point of contact for clients FAT/SAT meetings energisation walkdowns
• Provide commissioning input estimates and technical assurance on bids

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• MV/HV Commissioning: Substantial experience on MV switchgear and substations ideally extending into HV
• Protection & Automation: Strong knowledge of relay testing protection settings and control systems
• Leadership Credibility: Experience leading or mentoring commissioning engineers with the credibility to train others
• Client-Facing Confidence: Comfortable leading technical conversations and energisation walk-downs with senior stakeholders

LIKELY BACKGROUNDS

Candidates from OEM contractor or utility environments where MV/HV commissioning is core. Strong number twos ready to step up into full group ownership are particularly encouraged.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who acts without waiting for direction brings solutions rather than problems and is willing to travel across Europe at short notice.
