At BlackRock technology powers how we serve clients at scale. Within Aladdin Data the Client Lifecycle Engineering builds the systems that support the full client lifecycle from onboarding and inquiries to contracting client workflows and foundational data.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Budapest engineering hub. This role focuses on designing and building a scalable automated testing framework that is fully integrated into the SDLC pipeline enabling fast reliable and high-confidence delivery across core applications.
This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who is passionate about test automation developer experience and CI/CD integration and who wants to directly impact engineering velocity and quality outcomes.
About the team
Client Workflows Engineering builds and operates a suite of platforms that power critical client lifecycle workflows across BlackRock. These systems support onboarding servicing compliance contracting and client interaction at global scale.
The team operates across modern Java/Spring services and distributed systems with a strong emphasis on scalable architecture reliability and quality engineering practices. A key focus area is building automation and integrating quality controls directly into the SDLC pipeline to ensure fast consistent and high-confidence delivery across these interconnected platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build an automation test framework that integrates seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines and the SDLC
- Implement automated tests across API integration and end-to-end layers to ensure coverage and early defect detection
- Write high-quality maintainable test code with strong focus on reusability stability and execution speed
- Embed testing into the development lifecycle by shifting quality left and enabling developers to adopt automated testing practices
- Ensure test execution runs reliably in pipelines with clear reporting fast feedback and actionable insights
- Contribute to test infrastructure including environment setup test data management and pipeline optimization
- Collaborate with engineers product teams and operations to improve overall system quality and release confidence
- Apply best practices in contract testing non-functional testing and defect prevention
- Leverage modern tooling (e.g. Playwright REST-assured CI/CD tools) and AI-assisted engineering tools (Copilot Windsurf) to improve productivity and test coverage
Qualifications
- 48 years of experience in software engineering or test automation with strong hands-on coding
- Strong programming skills in Java and/or JavaScript with experience testing RESTful and Spring-based services
- Experience building or contributing to test automation frameworks
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build and deployment workflows
- Experience with tools such as Playwright Selenium REST-assured JUnit/TestNG
- Familiarity with testing distributed systems and enterprise applications
- Strong problem-solving skills with a quality-first engineering mindset
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative global engineering environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with performance and resilience testing (e.g. JMeter Gatling).
- Familiarity with Kafka Redis or other distributed data technologies.
- Knowledge of Docker Kubernetes and cloud-native environments.
- Experience with observability and quality metrics (Grafana Prometheus OpenTelemetry).
- Interest in AI-assisted testing prompt engineering or agentic QA tooling

Our hybrid work model
