Your mission

St. Georges School Munich seeks a well-qualified professional to teach German in our flourishing primary department starting August 2026.

The School
Having opened in September 2013 St. Georges School Munich has rapidly developed into a thriving community of around 800 pupils and 100 teachers. The school continues to grow and as the school matures we expect to reach 800 pupils. The schools ethos of combining an enriching curriculum with family orientated care makes the school a warm and engaging place to work and learn.
In September 2017 the school embarked on an exciting phase of its development as it moved to a new purpose-built campus located in the city. These premises provide first-class educational facilities for all ages and subject areas.
The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school and we offer IGCSE qualifications to pupils in our Upper School. Students in the Sixth Form prepare the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

The Location
The schools new campus is located in the area of Schwabing-Freimann to the north of the city centre. The site enjoys good access to the U6 metro line as well as the A9 motorway.
Germanys third largest city and the capital of the state of Bavaria Munich is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre with a large and diverse international community. Situated on the northern edge of the Alps Munich offers a high standard of living as well as numerous opportunities for travel and outdoor pursuits.
Munich airport is located 30km from the school with many daily flights to the UK and high speed rail services connect Munich to a wide range of European destinations.

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

  • Teach an approx. 80% timetable with 20% preparation time
  • Plan deliver assess and report in line with school policy
  • Use effective differentiation to meet individual pupil needs
  • Set clear challenging and achievable expectations
  • Create a safe respectful and engaging learning environment
  • Ensure all pupils make progress relative to their potential
  • Maintain a well-organised and stimulating classroom environment

Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Prioritise pupil welfare and safeguarding in line with school policy
  • Undertake class or form tutor responsibilities where required
  • Support pupils holistic development

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete reports registers and pupil data accurately and on time
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with parents
  • Ensure compliance with school and departmental administrative procedures

Wider Professional Commitments

  • Contribute to ongoing school improvement and policy development
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and parents evenings
  • Engage in departmental and whole-school collaboration

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe environment for staff pupils and visitors
  • Take part in cover arrangements for absent colleagues
  • Carry out supervisory duties according to rotas
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities trips clubs and events (including out-of-hours where required)
  • Attend school functions linked to year groups and whole-school activities
  • Assist with internal and external examination invigilation
  • Share responsibility for maintaining tidy communal areas
  • Undertake reasonable duties requested by school leadership


Your profile

We are seeking to appoint a qualified teacher of German as a first and/or second language to work in our flourishing German department in the primary school.

All pupils follow a course in German that is appropriate to their age and ability in German. First language speakers follow the local Bavarian curriculum for German language. Second language speakers follow a curriculum that is tailored to their level and needs. German teachers work across the whole primary department and play an important role in monitoring pupil development. They keep careful track of pupils progress and maintain regular dialogue with parents.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire our pupils.

Fluency in both English and German are a prerequisite. Familiarity with the English National Curriculum and Bavarian curriculum for German are also beneficial.

Given the growing and developing nature of the school flexibility and the desire to support other team members is essential. A strong desire to contribute to the rich pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school will also be an advantage.
