Job Description Summary:

As aJAVA/HCL Commerce/ WebSphere Commerce Developeryou will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle which includes technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment, and support of application developed for our clients. This will be a key development role as we start the journey to modernize and improve the customer experience of eCommerce platform. As a member working in a team environment, you will work with solution architects, Leads and developers on interpretation/translation of wireframes and creative designs into functional requirements, and subsequently into technical design and play key role in the solution delivery.

What Software Engineering contributes to Us

Software Engineering is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting applications, systems and IT products required to achieve the company's business objectives.

• Demonstrates knowledge of software development techniques and fluency in software languages and application programming interfaces.
• Demonstrates general understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies.
• Plans and executes system implementations that ensure success and minimize risk of system outages or other negative production impacts.
• Demonstrates conceptual knowledge of architecture standards and database and operating systems.
• Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages.
• Analyzes production system operations using tools such as monitoring, capacity analysis and outage root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability and performance.
• Demonstrates knowledge of software development, life cycle, modeling of business processes, application design patterns, business/functional documents. Estimates to high level business requirements and provide options analysis.

What is expected of you and others at this level:

• Design and develop solutions within a multi-functional Agile team to support key business needs for WebSphere Commerce/ HCL Commerce application
• Design and implement and test back-end solutions for eCommerce websites
• Apply software engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis and take appropriate action to remediate issues
• Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Must be able to document and demonstrate technical solutions by developing documentation, diagrams, code comments, etc.
• Development and support for enterprise-grade e-commerce websites (HCL Commerce/IBM WebSphere Commerce) using e.g. Java, JavaScript, SQL and REST
• Employ strong coding standards for efficiency, readability, automated testing, and reuse.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in related field, or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years experience in related field
• You are a growing developer with proven Java/Cloud development experience. You have working experience in implementing full cycle HCL Commerce projects.

Your skillset likely includes:

Proven experience in delivering large-scale architecture change projects in B2B ecommerce.

An understanding of web technologies and an appreciation for capacity and performance design considerations

Essential to have a good understanding of IBM WebSphere Commerce (WC v7 or WC v8)/ HCL Commerce v9 functional and technical architecture including design and development best practice and the associate technologies:

Understanding and experience working in at least 3 major subsystems (Ex: Catalog, Member, Order)

WC frameworks (e.g. Command framework, MVC, Search)

WC messaging infrastructure (inbound and outbound, REST, MQ, BOD)

WC persistence layer (JPA/EJB)

Experience using general development tools/frameworks Git , Sonar , Junit

IBM DB2 Database Experience writing queries with joins and understanding of PLSQL

Demonstrate and develop to WC best practices, especially with regards to security and customizations

An understanding of WC deployment models (e.g. 3-tier, de-coupled storefront/search)

Java and J2EE development (e.g. JSP, EJB, JPA, Spring, core JAVA)

Working experience of the Atlassian Tooling (JIRA, Confluence)

Excellent problem-solving skills

Excellent written (documentation) and oral communication skills, in a role which will be regularly customer facing

Effective time management, and an ability to deliver to deadlines working in a Agile methodology

Ability to work collaboratively with both local and offshore teams and developers

Experience with Junit and other testing frameworks

Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals

Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models
