Lived Experience Advocate

Are you a young parent who wants to use your experience to help create positivechange for other young parent-led families across Australia
At Brave Foundation we believe young parents must be included and empowered in the decisions systems and services that impact their lives.
We are looking for a Lived Experience Advocate to join our team and help make sure the voices of young parents are represented in conversations with government community organisations and decision-makers.
This is a flexible supportive opportunity designed for someone who is passionate about speaking up creating change and helping other young parents are seen and understood.
You do not need previous advocacy experience we are looking for someone with passion confidence to learn and a genuine interest in making a difference.

Brave Foundation builds a village of support around expecting and parenting young people connecting them with a professional mentor and the support and resources to thrive. We are a child safe organisation and are committed to creating inclusive supportive and culturally safe spaces for all young people.
About the Role
This role is part of Braves Our Voices Our Lives Our Future project funded by Minderoo which focuses on amplifying the voices and experiences of young parents.
In this role you will:
- Share your insights drawn from experience
- Attend meetings with government partners and community organisations
- Help advocate for the needs and experiences of young parents
- Work alongside Braves CEO Brave staff and lived experience leaders
- Contribute ideas campaigns and projects that support young parents
- Help ensure young parents feel represented and included in conversations that impact them
Wed Love to Hear From You If You:
- Have living experience as a young parent (gave birth before the age of 20 flexible for First Nations CALD community and people with a disability)
- Under 30 years of age
- Care about creating positive change for young parents and families
- Are curious open to learning and eager to explore new ideas
- Feel comfortable speaking with people and sharing ideas
- Are reliable approachable and open to learning
- Have basic computer and social media skills
- Enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds

Additional Information
- Part-time position: 1 day per week (0.2 FTE) with the flexibility to work the hours across two days
- Fixed-term contract until October 2027
- Some occasional travel may be required
- Working With Children Check and Police Check required
