The Role:
The Math Coach will work collaboratively with teachers to provide instructional support feedback and pedagogical content knowledge and planning for mathematics instruction. This position has the following major areas of responsibility:
Work with school leadership instructional leadership team and education sta across department lines to plan and implement changes that improve the academic achievement of the students with an eye toward equity anti-racism and advocating for those scholars most at risk for achievement gaps
Ongoing collaborative planning with teachers at both a team and individual level
Classroom teacher support/development
Facilitation of workshops and professional development
Participation in the school leadership team and development of school improvement plan and district wide projects/eorts to include participation in periodic coach meetings
Implement math department initiatives
Support teachers to enact ambitious instructional routines by planning co-facilitating observing and debrieng these routines
Analyze school math data and support educators in data inquiry cycle meetings
Support teachers in communicating with caregivers about MA math standards CPS math curriculum as well individual scholars achievement and test results.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the implementation support and monitoring of the district curriculum and system of assessments which align with state and national content and practice standards. The math coach should have a deep understanding of Mathematics as well as a wide range of mathematical approaches and representations that would support a standards based curriculum. Additionally the coach will have a comprehensive understanding of lesson planning and design which support teachers in meeting the needs of a diverse range of learners.

Skill in facilitation of high performing teams
Knowledge of pedagogical practices across all content areas including management
Experience in use of common formative assessments
Ability to provide professional development on the district implemented mathematics program and support to colleagues and families from a variety of backgrounds
Energy a sense of humor commitment to teaching all children
Evidence of leadership capacity
Belief that all children and teachers can learn
Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
Massachusetts certication: Math Grades 1-6 and/or Elementary Grades 1-6 required
Recent successful experience teaching mathematics in student-centered classrooms with inquiry-based methodologies in an urban multicultural setting
