About CompostNow
CompostNow is a compost collection service, empowering community members, organizations, and local businesses to divert their compostables from the landfill since 2011. The plentiful nutrients found in food scraps are returned to the soil, addressing the problem of nutrient loss while creating jobs, fighting climate change; and building more vibrant, resilient local food systems.
CompostNow focuses on creating meaningful and impactful composting experiences for members and the broader community via successful residential, office, and food service composting programs. We currently service the Triangle and Asheville, NC; Atlanta, GA; Charleston, SC; and Cincinnati, OH.
About this Role
You are responsible for ensuring the safe, clean, consistent, and reliable running of all Sprinter Driver operations activities (the collection of compostables from our residential and office members, and distribution of compostable packaging) in the Triangle market. You lead the execution of team operational needs, personnel management, and administrative tasks for an approximately 10-person team operating between 6 am and 2-4pm Monday through Friday. You ensure that team members remain operationally ready; and you help set the tone, expectations, and culture of this team.
What You ll Do
Team
Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, corrective action, separation, and promoting of new team members
Ensure team members are trained to use the systems necessary to do their job (e.g., admin system for drivers, time tracking software, fleet management tools), and evaluate team member competence at training and throughout the employee journey
Conduct weekly check-ins with team members to determine needs and opportunities for improvement
Hold daily and weekly shift meetings to discuss safety topics, process updates, performance, and encouragement/recognition
Provide routine feedback on team member performance and operational procedures to the Operations Manager and Leadership
Operational Readiness
Ensure schedules are posted in a timely manner with all shifts covered
Maintain routine cleaning and maintenance schedules of all equipment, including vehicles
Work with shift leaders to make sure all opening and closing duties are completed for the following shift
Identify and eliminate safety hazards in accordance with established safety guidelines and implement safety procedures in processes and facilities
Maintain facility layout and organization to meet operational needs and drive efficient workflows
Conduct routine inventory counts and checks on products and supplies so that team members have the supplies they need to do the job and to deliver compostable product to Members; rotate product/inventory according to first-in, first-out principles
Fill in as needed to ensure daily job duties are completed
What We re Looking For
A valid driver s license
Possession of strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to interact and make connections with others, with the goal of strengthening team dynamics
Coordinating and organizing multiple tasks, people, and priorities
Follow through on commitments in a timely manner and routine updates as progress is made towards completion of a task or objective
Maintaining high attention to detail as it relates to equipment, personnel, and facilities (upkeep, supply, safety, organization, etc.)
Learning CompostNow Operational systems
Learning CompostNow Operations positions; ability to perform all Sprinter division job duties
Viewing logistical problem solving as a positive challenge
Viewing change as a positive constant that brings possibilities and opportunities that didn t previously exist
Desired Experience & Skills
Success in this role requires attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to instill a sense of support and connection among those reporting to you. We re also looking for someone with:
Experience in or desire to learn delivery driving position logistics, route and schedule management, and relevant office and logistics technologies (examples: Google Suite, Microsoft, Fleetio, Sentix, Workforce)
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time, salaried, at $55,000 per year
