Initial 3/4 months contract for Bromley Council with opportunity for extension

This role is offering upto 55 P/Hr (UMB)

Job Summary:

An experienced Contracts and Procurement lawyer is required for an assignment with a London Borough to cover short term absence of amember of the Contracts and Procurement Team. The Council is looking for a person toprovide expert general and bespoke drafting and advice work across the usual variety of Council activities. Including services and IT contracts, consultancy contracts, works/JCT contracts, collaboration, Grants ,FOI ,GDPR and Subsidy Control. The person will also be required to provide expert procurement advice. The role will include providing legal advice and input in relation to decision-making. powers and reports under the Councils Contract Procedure Rules and Constitution.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Specialist in-depth knowledge of contract and public procurement law

To give expert legal advice on procurement law, draft contracts, draft other relevant documentation in relation to tenders, give legal advice in relation to data protection, Freedom of information Act requests, state aid, pensions issues, TUPE, governance and other areas of local government law.

Knowledge and experience of committee work, involving members.

Knowledge of performance management techniques.

Essential Experience Required:

Local Government experience is required.

Substantial experience of drafting contracts, advising on contract formation, contract disputes and tender process.

Substantial experience of advising on public procurement law and internal governance.

Experience of advising on all aspects of commissioning including TUPE and pension issues.

Experience of working on major transactions

Experience of researching and advisingon complex legal matters

Experience of managing legal staff


Essential Qualifications Required:

Qualified solicitor or barrister, with a full practicing certificate
