Job Description

Thermo Pac, LLC, an Atlanta based portion control manufacturing company, is seeking a Sanitation Technician. This position operates CIP (Clean in Place) systems, clean, and maintains audit readiness in assigned areas and other areas of the building.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Cleans by CIP system kettles, tanks, lines, pumps, pipes, floors, walls and other areas and types of equipment as assigned.
  • Dismantles and reassembles hoses, connections, clamps, pumps, lines or pipes and clean per Standard Operating Procedures
  • Operates foaming equipment and high pressure washing systems.
  • Visually inspects all parts of equipment for cleanliness.
  • Cleans debris and water from floor areas and disposes of properly.
  • Prepares tanks, hoppers, kettles, piping and other components necessary for Processing or Production needs.
  • Performs routine maintenance, such as gasket replacement, O-Ring replacement, fill tube straightening, pump seals, lubrication of parts and fitting replacement.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals according to MSDS and safe handling procedures; Tests chemical concentrations in COP Systems and documents results in titration record.
  • Cross trains in other Sanitation Department areas.
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner following GMP and Plant Safety guidelines and keeps work area audit ready

Qualifications:

  • High School or GED preferred
  • 3 months of experience in food manufacturing sanitation environment preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of chemicals, cleanliness, and odors
  • Visual acuity needed for color coded equipment for cleaning and chemicals.
  • Associating with people in a professional manner

Physical requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to lift, carry, and push/pull up to 50 pounds at a given time. There is exposure to extreme heat and temperature change, noise, vibration dust and ventilation. Also, the associate will be working in a wet and humid environment with exposure to vapors, fumes, odor, and other cleaning chemicals. The associate must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as walk frequently. Bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and overhead reaching may are also required.
